grow room too dry i need advice...

i need some advice in keeping my 2'x4'x6' grow room cool and humid.im running a 400w mh with two computer fans for intake and a bathroom exhaust fan for out take.its way to dry and im having to keep the door rolled up to controll the heat....can someone give me some advice???????im also on a tight budget so please come up with something better then upgrading to expensive equip.....

Ive had the same prob, high humid is only good for veg. Low humid is good for flower like 30% ish. Humidity to high or low SUCKS for trying to dry your harvested buds. Get a humidifier from your local stores.

400W is a ton for 2x4 footprint, I suspect that the lamp is not air cooled. Your bathroom fan isn't making it on the exhaust end either. If you don't want to spend any scratch try and reverse one of the computer fans for exhaust and get more of the hot air out of the box. You don't say what he temps or RH are in the box and in the room. If you ran a humidifier, $50 at Walmart, in the room and had enough intake fan that would take care of that problem.

You've been given some good advice, and not to crap on other people's parades, but I think if you're going to spend money at all, don't waste it on a humidifier. The lamp is hot enough (I know because I have one) to make anything with moisture, give off humidity. Take a bucket of towels, soak them down and place them in the cabinet with no lid. You don't want a bunch of standing water, but just make sure the towels are wet. When they start to get a little dry, re-wet them. OR you could get yourself a large spaghetti pot, fill it with water and bring it to a rolling boil. Set it down in the bottom of the cab and let the steam do the work. Come back in an hour, take the pot out and when the humidity starts to come back down, do it again. The first way with the towels is the best IMO because you don't have to keep coming back.

Last thing... if you are going to sepnd the money, get yourself 2 of these... http://www.bathfans.com/soler-and-palau-td-100-4-100mm-inline-mixed-flow-duct-fan/p934765 They are powerful enough and you won't pay an arm and a leg for 2.

I agree totally with just adding bowl of water or wet towels (the towels will get stinky after several wets and drys) I would go with bowls of water as mold may grow on towels. I know when I forget to put the clothes from washer into dryer they smell like mold within hours so it would be same for wet towels. Better yet fill a bowl with some perlite and soak fully maybe two or three, more surface area will generate more humidity like growing shrooms

Thanks super... I forgot to mention the mold issue. Yea, you will have to use different towels pretty much every day. Just use like 3 or 4 small dish towels, or 1 big bathroom towel. That way you don't use up all the towels in the house, lol.

lol wow im stoned and maybe that didnt make sense. with a bowl of water the only area of water that touches air is the surface. Just like hydroton the perlite is very porous and has a lot more surface area in total that touches air as you soak it with water and get it nice and wet the total wet surface area increases greatly thus more water evaps into the air. Probably nice deep square pan would be nice. I have not actually done this as I am fine with dry conditions for my flowering babies.

well if your lazy like me and have a job

i tryed buckets of water cups bowls etc all together in my room it raised the humidity about 2%

i went and got a 40$ cold mist humidifier from target humidity is now at 45% and it cools the entire grow box down so now my temps are all ways between 70-78F

I hate the ones with cartridges

Don't get me wrong here, a humidifier is definitely the way to go, but when you are on a budget, I would say to spend the money on some better fans and use a supplimental way to raise humidity, just my .02

yeah mine lasts 24 hours... so i gotta refill it meh takes less then a minute then im on my way

no locking or anything just remove refill drop back

Haven't read the responses but i would do this: Fill a 5 gallon bucket with pearlite. Moisten to field capacity and just let it sit in the room.

In my small grow to raise humidity I mist the top of the soil with a bottle of water and some of the fan leaves. Just to put the water in the air. At least until the bud sites start developing. Just be cautious of getting big drips of water on the leaves it will cause burn spots.

this guy I use to know had these bags that he hung in his ceiling that were full of water. I guess they had pores or something so they would sweat a little bit. but he swore by them. havn't been able to find them anywhere though... we should search for them!!!!

They do the exact thing where I buy my crabs, they hang large ziplock bags of water from the ceiling all over the place

Clear plastic bags hanging from the ceiling is to keep flies away.
They appear to be hornet's nests to the eyes of a fly and they stay away since hornets are a natural predator of typical house flies.

I didnt see where you posted the RH in the cabinet 40-50% is great 50-60% is fine too.
If its too low then spider mites can quickly become a prob...too high and mold, mildew and other pesta will flourish.

Air cooled light that vents outside cab and exhaust fans controlled by therm/humistats is the way to go for an enclosed space...in this noobies opinion
