grow room for 10 plants

how u goin fellas.. been reading up on this site for a while and am about to do my first decent sized grow. I want as much advice and suggestions as possible coz im preety much a noobie.

Basically i got a room about 5mx10m and normal ceiling height and am planning on putting 10 plants in there. They should fit comfortably which is why im planning on using two rows of netting to flatten them out 'to pizza them on the netting'. If shit gets too outa control i got a mate that preety well knows wat he is doing so he can help me out.

I got 10 northern light clones coming in a week
Planning on having 15 600w hps to start with and hopefully getting more as i go
1 massive carbon filter (about a metre or so long)
1 stompa exhaust fan (cant tell u exactly how much air it sucks in)
(i plan on having the exhaust fan atatched and sucking air through the filter through ducting which goes under the floor boards)
1 whole in the floor boards on the other side of the room as an inlet
theres an airconditioner in the room
i got a water pump and irrigation all ready with the timer already set (not sure what it is set, got it from a mate and am using the exact same times)

Does it sound like im on the right track or i got way too many gaps and im in way over my head (ps i still got a mate that can bail me out if i get into too much trouble)

15 600W lights ? For just 10 plants ? Sounds like you might have a bit more reading to do.

yeh because they are going to be flattened out on the netting they are going to need as much lighting as possible.... having at least 1 light on each plant will ensure i get at least 2 pound a plant... that is what my mate was doing and it worked for him... i got a electric board all made up by a fully qualified electrician (also a mate) which can take up to 20 lights

1 fan is not going to cool 15 lights,sorry but you are going to have major heat issues.3 fans might cool your lights if they were all in cooltubes with there own intake air. set up each fan like this, intake air----light--light--light--light--light--fan--outside.even better would be 5 fans on 3 lights each.good luck

you should do way more plants..like 40 plants atleast

ok but add 20 to 30 more plant with that much lumens..

Thanks for the input fellas....my understanding is that increasing the number of plants wont increase the yeild its more depending on the lights. in other words having 10 plants with 15 lights will be approx the same as having 15 or 20 plants under 15 lights. By having more plants they will just receive less light which means they will b smaller. if im a long way off please tell me or any other infor let us know..

^^^ ya kid your way off, adding more plants to the same lights wont make the other plants smallerm because the light you put the excess plants under is not being ised anyway, now if you move the light farther away to compensate for more plants then it will affect yeild.

So let me get this right 5m x 10m? So 15ftx30ft? With 10 plants? How big are you going to let them get? I have a 6x8ft room and im sqeezing 12-15 in there with a qp+ per plant w/ 2 1000w hps so you should easily be able to hold 30-40

yo go out and buy 400 more plants give them a two week veg time and u will be happy

Yeh thats right i think man.... about 15ft x 30ft....was planning on having 10 but there was a bit of a mix up with organising the clones and im gonna end up getting around 14 or 15 coz some1 i asked in the begining to get them couldnt n then could n i had already organised to get them of some1 else........ANYWAY yeh i was thinking about growing them very big... aiming for 2 pound per plant using sog, which is why i wanted to maximse the lgiht... my mate who is gonna be there if i get in any trouble said he used to get a minimum of 2 (and im sure he did coz i saw his room)..... theyre going to be in 50L pots aswell

A plant only has a set maximum production, its not just about amount of lumens. If you overkill on the lights then your just wasting money because the plants can only use up to a certain amount, then their limited by other factors, and by their natural growth rate. you need to learn a lot more before going ahead with this. 15 lights for 10 plants is ridiculous, you should have 3-5 plants per 400w light. and unless your planning on vegging them for months their not going to get big enough to fill up that area. just thinking about this 15 lights 10 plants thing makes me laugh. you cant jump into something like this so large scale when you don't know what your doing, and relying on a mate is flimsy. seriously if you want 10 plants scrog, cut it down to 4-6 lights. even that is still ridiculous. ive seen 40+ plants under one 1000w light, all very small, thats max potential.

i agree with 15 light and the space you have you could split the room in to 4 sections and do a 50 plant prepetual harvest and get over 2 kilos every 3 weeks easly what your doing is a bit pointless to be honest and 2 pounds a plant c mon maybe an outdoor plant thats been growin a whole season but not indoor

15X600 for 10 plants? 9000 watts for 10 plants? An unknown CFM fan and an unknown scrubber along with unknown hoods. 2 pounds per plant indoors?

I'm sorry this must be a joke. There are just too many problems to even contemplate someone being serious about this.

just wanted to get it out there...i had 8 bubblegum strain (i think) and 2 northern lights. I got 11 pounds... 10 pounds off the 8 and 1 between the two northern lgihts. I wouldve got at least another 1 or 2 pounds if i put some lights underneath (all of them were hanging from the ceilings)

If you get this kind of results , why are you asking us for advice ?? Show us your pics .

Hmm...with 15'x30'...you could fit 10 lights in nicely. Space them all in two rows of 5, each 5ft apart from each other and the walls...It works out perfectly.

As for wattage...you could go with 1000w lights. Although, even that is about half of what youll need for such a large room.

THe rule of thumb for good lighting is 50watts of HID per sq. ft....So your place is 15'x30'...which is 450sq ft. and at 50w per sq ft...thats over 22,000 watts for the entire room.

I would use maybe half of that space to begin with...growing ten plants in a 450sq ft room is overkill...youd need way more lights and equipment than necessary for only 10 plants.

If you were gonna use the whole room, id put in 4 rows of 9 plants...each 3 feet from each other and the walls. 36 total...under like 15 1000w lights.

THen you could easily pull about 1-2 lbs per plant in optimal conditions under professional care. But even if you were a pro grower, that whole room setup would cost you about 6,000euros - 10,000 euros. Around $8,000-$14,000 US.

you must be hanging the lights vertically w/o hoods right ? u can get up to 3lbs per plant
