Ok i'm running a 250watt HPS/MH conversion lamp with a magnetic ballast in my closet, My closet is 4ft, by 8ft. My closet durring the summer is normally about 80 degrees. My lamp is not fan cooled but i have 2 8 inch fans blowing air around the actual grow space (a 3x3 square in the back of my closet) My closet is connected to my room and occaisionaly i can open my closet door and put a fan in the doorway and take out some of the hot air. I do NOT have a duct leading outdoors and i cannot make one, i need to find a way to cool my room down with a somewhat innexpensive way. It MIGHT be possible for me to cut a opening into the wall of my closet and place a fan either blowing cold air into my Grow room or taking hot air Out of it. (the closet is connected to a spare room of my house that is air conditioned) but im not sure if that would be worth the time and effort. Does anyone have a idea on how i can cool my closet down 5-15 degrees without spending a fortune?? TIME IS RUNNING OUT MY BABIES ARE DYING!!! HELPPP A FELLOW GROWER OUTT!!!

dont spend money on buying a cool tube, just make one, its real easy and you get everything at either a hobby lobby and home depot.

regardless if you have a cooltube or not, you definitely need to have a hole/duct with an exhaust fan so that the hot air from your lamp is removed from your closet. getting the hot air out is most important. so do that first and see if that helps. you may not need a cooltube, and if you still do, you'll have the needed exhaust already.

the exhaust hole should be as a high as possible in the closet since heat rises/hottest air is at the top. or if the hole has to be low, use some 4" dryer duct inside the closet with one end connected down low to the hole or exhaust fan and the other end up high. fan can be either inside (blows air out) or out of the closet (sucks air out), whatever works best for you.

also, from the outside of the closet, you need to make sure the hot air coming out isn't going right back into the closet. you might need to use ducting or a fan to draw the hot air away from the closet door/opening. and if you're not doing 24 hr lighting, adjust your light schedule so that your light is off during the hottest times of the day. good luck!

Buy a small stand alone A/C. Put it on a shelf to extract the hot air (hot air rises) and put a rubbermaid container underneath for the drainage hose (UNDERNEATH IS KEY OR YOU WILL FLOOD YOUR HOUSE) set it on a 48 switch timer so its on for 1/2 hour at a time each hour. Depending on the setting you have it on and the size of your grow space you can lower your temps 5-20 degrees. The first day be very watchful and make sure your timer is working properly. Also test your room periodically for temp in the first few days to make sure there aren't any extreme changes that could shock or stunt your ladies.

When using an A/C always put all electrical cords on a shelf or risk burning down your house.

I grow in my closet. What i've done, is cover the doorway with black and white poly film and cut it right down the middle and added a zipper (you can find em at hydro stores). Then I have my inline fan mounted to the ceiling blowing hot air out of a hole i cut in the poly film. This brings hot air out into my room, but my room temps stay about 79°. I also have a duct connected to one of the vents on my window AC unit, which brings cold air in through another hole I cut in the poly film. This keeps the closet running at about 73°F with my 400W mh/hps and 5 other CFLs. My closet is only 2' x 4' too.

Here is a computer rendering I made of the setup (note: the plastic covering the doorway is not shown):
