Grow lux enough for around five plants?

Hey guys, I am currently in the sprouting stage with one of my plants. Out of five bagseed, four germinated, three have died. One is surviving quite well with a tall stem so far, green in color.

Yet it seems to be growing too small, which I think is due to the inadequate light output of my two foot grow lux wide spectrum flourescent lamp. I have five K2 germinating now, and I want the right light to help them sprout quickly. Should I get another lamp? A more expensive metal halide for veg and high pressure sodium for flowering?

I just went and bought a pack of CFL's. The hps's are way too expensive after you factor in the ballast. Problem is that there are two soft white CFL's with lumen output of 900, a bright white with lumen of 800, and a daylight with lumen of 400. I don't know which one to choose! Maybe all of them combined with my flourescent and I'll have a good range of the color spectrum?

Man, the HPS will more than pay for its self after your first run. Me and my friend were skeptical, but after the first run it was clear that the hps is SUPERIOR to the CLF route. Iv done a CLF crop, it was NOTHING compared to my hps crops. Get an hps/HM. I dont care how broke u are. U shouldnt be growing pot unless you have the right equipment, and CLFS no matter what u have seen on this site, are NOT proper equipment.

Well yeah HPS lights are better than CFL for sure. But I'm not having a major grow op going, just a few plants in the closet. A good array of CFL lights and a flourescent would provide adequate lighting for my plants while saving on electricity bills. However, my question was do these lights provide enough blue and red spectrum lighting?

250w of HPS light costs the same to run as 250w worth of CFLs... Provides a hell of a lot more light intensity too. CFLs should provide a great spectrum for your plants.
