Hey everyone. I am planning on growing in Michigan next year. I was wondering if anyone else is used to growing in that area(up north) and can help me with some tips. When is the right time to start? Will i have to start flowering early using some type of unnatural technique. Any suggestions to guide me to the right strain for the colder climate up there.

Anything will help.
Thanks..go smoke a bowl!

well i dont plan on starting for a couple of weeks like late april early may. it is always a good idea to start your seeds indoor so they grow for a little while before you put them outdoor.

yeah i was planning on starting indoor and gradually putting them out on my porch during the night(or day?) to get them used to the outdoors before i transplant them at my location. I remember reading about that but i am not sure if i should put them out during the night or day. if i put them out during the day i would not have to use as much electricity indoors because they would be getting sunlight. Does this sound alright to you?

First tip I would give you is do not tell people what state you live in. At least give an area of 2-3 states.. Hey,, how would you grow in Washington or oregon?
Just a thought.... I wish i could help, but I have never grown out doors.. MJ plants will not live where i live. At least not produce....

michigan is pretty damn big....dont worry about mentioning whhat state ya live in....some people are too paranoid....i am in illinois.....i plan on moving my plants outdoors mothers day give or take a few days im sure u are in same zone...as far a sstrain i am not expierenced enough to answer that... i have like 4 diff outdoor strains i ordered so i will let u know in september...i ordered strains that were advertised as " resiliant to cold and decent yeild and resiliant to mold..but a solid smoke.... pretty much 60-100 % indica so it finishes late september or first week of october.. i even have some auto flowering plants 9 weeks from seed to smoke with small yeild i will be growing shortly...they are called lowryders...some people say they suck and are garbage i will form my own opinion soon.... i also ordered only bushy short plants..no tall trees that attract attention ...good luck...michigan is a beautiful state i bet u can find some sick growing area's and produce some killer crops:blsmoke:

May day has always been the standard here in Ohio, a little earlier if you know theres going to be no frost.

I have grown outdoors in northern wisconsin many times I would not even be concerned about the strand, I have had great success with even sativa dominant strains started usually around the first of april. The yield is usually between two or three ounces so I plant many to compensate for the reduced yield due to the short season. Go Organic!
