just yesterday i DLed a DVD produced by a big company in canada called thc labs.

i watched the whole dvd and got a few great things from it that ive not seen directly posted here.

no questions here, im just handing out info to be helpful.

(1) first off, when growing, in any stage, REMOVE ALL leaves that look sickly. this is not to say if ur plant is generally unhealthy remove all the leaves. but if ur plant is healthy and has a few "bad" leaves, ie. yellowness, brown spots, holes, etc, tear them off carefully (pulling downward). this helps limit the spread of these problems to other seeds and helps divert the resources going to that sickly leaf to the other good ones.

(2) during the LAST 2 weeks of the flowering stage, DO NOT use any nutes in your watering. flush as well. why? u do not want ur buds to soak up artificial nutes giving it a harsh or worse taste. the sugars from the leaves will be directed to the buds to encourage growth.

(3) when to harvest? u can go by time, but they say to go by leaf color. when all the leaves turn yellowish that means ur plants has used all it's internal sugars on the buds and it's ready to be harvested. along w. this, once a leaf had turned completely yellow, REMOVE it so that no other resources go to this leaf.

(4) when to harvest (as well)? they prefer to harvest when the hairs of the bud turn 80% red/brown. this is not that big of a deal but it is something that they said that could be important to some ppl.

1-3 are the most important. i hope this helps ppl. i was able to get this movie FREE by downloading w. Limewire, im sure you could use Kazaa or Morphius.

oops, on #1 i said spreading to other "seeds", meant to say "leaves" but that's prob. pretty obvious.

hope that did not cause confusions.

it seemed to me that they "swore" by the yellow leaf method. they said that all the nutes/sugars from the leaves are redirected to the buds which is why the last 2weeks of growth is highest. from the vid, i suppose the leaf method is a better way to tell when to harvest than the hair color method. you can harvest when you want of course. im just sharing info that i saw that ive not seen posted here.

when my plants flower i plant to let it finish till most of the leaves are yellow. why wait 2-3 months for harvest and not let an extra week or 2 go by to get max yield?

it's up to you bro, gl!

2legit is right. Leaf and hair color is an indicator of time to harvest but the only real way to tell is the color of the trichomes. Use a $10 30x microscope from raidoshack . When the trics are a milky color you will get a up heady high and when they turn amber you will get a couchlock high. You could harvest too early or too late by just going by hair and leaf color and wind up with a weak batch.

that's cool sticky and all, but these guys didn mention it, but i do believe what you're saying to be accurate, they just used simpler methods to harvest, imagine they grow 100s and 100s of plants, they do not have time to use a microscopy on their crops. anyways, it's just advice, i suppose the best thing is to incorporate all these tid bits when you harvest.

If you want to get a good DVD on growing get Jorge Cervantes How to Grow DVD 1 and 2 and his 2008 grow bible. It has a lot of good clean info on growing hydro and dirt.
