I've been lurking on this site for about three months now and have learned quite a bit. Moved into a new place in the beginning of the year and could not resist starting a few seeds in a sunny window from a bag of merch. All I can say is that things have came a long way since that sunny window. I sprouted four seeds and they sat in the window for all of january. They didn't make any progress past seedling during that entire month and I lost two of them. I'm embarrassed to say this but for a little while the two that survived were under a single 45w incandescent bulb. I eventually saved up some cash and bought some cfl's and put them into a vanity light that I got at a local resale shop for 2 dollars. The plants responded well to the cfl's and I ended up with one female and one male. About this time I sprouted a seed that my buddy who has done some growing gave me. The seed packet said it was "mocatto" but i cant find any information on the strain, but my buddy said it gets huge. This seed sprouted and grew very quickly and for some reason I just knew it was going to be a female.
So I was hooked and decided to make my shit legit and get a medical card, I know I jumped the gun a little bit but it feels good to have paperwork now. At the same time a friend of mine who had gotten his card had all these grand delusions of getting rich growing meds so he went out and bought way more equipment than he could realistically pay for. I ended up buying a 1000 watt magnetic switchable ballast off him with hood and hps bulb for a price that was too low to pass up, I figured I've got the room and I'm legit might as well. So my light footprint increased considerably. So the two plants veged under the 1000 watt for about half a month a loved it. The mocatto caught up to the older plant which had been topped and actually got way bigger than the older plant when put into flower (stretch mostly). I also started four more of the moccato seeds when i put the two into flower and figured I would veg them under the cfl's but due to light leakage in my growing area I decided to simplify and experiment with 12/12 from seedling. So the four sprouts went into the flower room when they were just forming there first mature leaves. They stretched a ton and grew like beanpoles but all four tuned out to be females showing me there lady parts at about 28 days into 12/12. So my grow room has 2 large plants one from bagseed veged for maybe two and a half months (but one month of that time was in a windowsill) and the moccato whicch was veged for about a month. The bagseed plant which was topped stands at about four and a half feet (including 5 gal bucket) and the moccato stands at about 6 foot (I think its heavy sativa). The four moccatos that are 12/12 from seedling are about 2 feet tall. So not many plant under 1000 watts, wrong. The extra space helps out with starting the ambitious vegetable garden that me and my girlfriend are planning on having this year. So in addition to the mj plants I have tomatoes, peppers, cantaloupe, watermelons, sage, basil, marigolds, echinacea, parsley, borage, and catnip. The veggie and herb garden plants really love the hps even in 12/12. Its night and day between the ones in the hps room, and the ones in the windowsill. I must say though it is a pain in the ass taking care of all these baby veggie plants indoors and I am very exited for the end of the month where they all go outside.
But Back to the mj. I'm five weeks into flower right now and buds are starting to swell up but are still way premature, It is driving me crazy being broke and out of weed and having a ton of it in this room (water water everywhere but I can't drink a drop). The bagseed plant I am hoping to harvest at the end of the month which would put it at eight weeks, the moccato will prolly go a few weeks longer, and if all goes well I will have a delayed harvest with the 12/12 from from seedling plants. I have learned so much from this experience, this site and the cannabis grow bible. Thank you all for the information and for reading my longwinded introduction. I will post pics a moment.

The moccato is too big to get out of the room so you only see it towering behind the bagseed plant in the full grow room pic, the bagseed plant had a photo shoot the other day under cfl's

Thanks Lt. Dan, and sorry to yall for the sideways pic of the grow room, it was right-side up on my computer but kept uploading sideways? wish I had kept a grow jounal but oh well, next time. By the way.. Has anyone ever heard of a strain called moccato? Any knowledge on the strain would be appreciated. Also anyone have any tips on application of techneflora nutes. I've been feeding 75% of the recommended dose every 3rd watering.
