If it's a regional phrase then you're more qualified to explain it than us  sounds like you have it on the head though, basically mediocre weed (i would say schwag but even that seems to have regional differences)

when I lived in western ny, which admittedly was a long time ago, greens were just a level above dirty brick schwag. probably chronic grown wrong. might have changed since then

This is where i see a difference in the word schwag. In the states it's classed almost as if there is a strain, like you ask, and that no schwag can compare to kush etc, has seeds, where i'm from on the other side of the pond, shwag simply means mediocre pot, has no relevance to it's strain, seeds etc, just it's high really.

i dont think the meaning has changed cuz in ny people say " i got the greens and i got the exsotics " so i have been thinking for a while what it is exactly

Exactly, there seems to be a regional/cultural difference in it's meaning, i mean i have classed countless "killer" strains as schwag, things like GHS Strawberry haze etc

Ha! true! It's all relative. One man's dank is another man's ditchweed.:weed:

every time I have heard the term 'greens' it was just a general synonym for marijuana (pot, dope, buds, ganja, etc), not particularly indicating a specific kind or quality... It's not common to hear, and I always thought it was probably more regional. Lots of people just come up with terms that bring the idea of pot to a stoner's mind, and use that to refer to it. What's the first thing you think of when you hear the term 'greens' :)

low grade here would be considered "regs" thats the brick weed with seeds and all that... then you have "mids" which is usally just a higher grade than regs without seeds and still in like bud form and not compressed.. then you have all your high grades...
