GreenHouse Seeds The Doctor Is Rock Bottom Priced. What is up with that?

I was looking to buy some seeds for a winter grow and I was looking for the cheapest seeds available just out of curiosity. I stumbled upon GreenHouse Seeds The Doctor. 34 dollars for 10 feminized seeds!

I mean, that's a great price for quality regs, but feminized? That's absolute craziness. The cheapest feminized seeds are still like 5 to 7 dollars a piece. I've never seen seeds that low priced.

It looks like some people bought up the 10 seeds/34 dollar deal at Herbies. 10 for 38 is still at Attitude. 20 for less than 70 dollars is at Herbies now, too.

What is the deal? I heard some rumors with this strain potentially having a very sativa like phenotype that refuses to flower and the strain was yanked and reworked. Could the people just be trying to get rid of their potential no-go sativa stock?

Probably getting rid of back stock. Unstable genetics is pretty standard for greenhouse, I doubt they would offer a discount on that alone.

I heard they had problems ith them not wanting to flower but this was a long time ago. Then they re released the doc.

I grew one out a good while back. I had to start some beans and didn't have much to choose from at the time. Wish I wouldn't have grown it tho. It was the worst plant I have ever grown other than bag seeds when I first started. And it had some nanners on the lower part later into flower, and yielded like crap. It was very indica actually, didn't hardly stretch at all either. I have heard of others liking it when I looked it up - but those seemed to be hit and miss. I have only grown 2 GHS seeds, the other was a freebie White Widow Auto and it wasn't too bad at all for an auto. I am not a ghs hater, I know they have a couple good strains. Just being honest.

The point of my post is, they are cheap for a reason. Do not skimp out on that extra $2 per seed just to save money. because in the end that is a horrible investment for yourself. If you want good quality cheap seeds look at Female Seeds, and Vision seeds, Pyramid seeds, and Nirvana aren't bad priced, and HSO for not much more. That's all for femms.

If you are looking for a grow, I wouldn't mind at all helping you choose a good strain or two. Tell me what you are looking for in a plant, and what conditions you are growing in as well as your experience and price range to work with and I will give you a few to look at.

I have a 315 watt CMH, the Sun System LEC and a small grow tent. I have the needed materials for a Hempy Bucket.

Vision Seeds, I have not heard anything about them. What do you suppose is their best strain?

Thank you for your experience with The Doctor and offer for advice.

I haven't grown much from them, but have only heard good reviews. I grew one of their AK's which was nice for an AK type plant. I heard they source their beans from other breeders. Meaning since most beans are produced in europe, they just buy these beans where they are produced for bulk discount and sell to everyone.

I don't know what your budget is, and I don't know how many plants you are wanting to run. But since you only have a small room I think 5 plants would be plenty for you. Grow them in a 5 gallon bucket using good soil if this is your first grow - just makes it easier and less room for error. Or 3 gallons if the 5's are too big. I'd say you are new to growing, but I am just guessing there and don't mean to sound like a dick or anything. But if so, this grow can go smoothly if you just simplify everything and don't overthink it like most do their first time or 2. Don't worry about getting the best, just worry about doing the best you can and learn from it.

For strains I would go with something that stays fairly short, or don't stretch very much that way you don't have to learn as much about LST and super cropping etc your first round. But then again, it isn't that hard if you choose to do so and greatly increases your yield.

For Female Seeds look at BubbleGummer, Pure AK, White Widow x Big Bud, and if you don't mind a little stretch look at C99 and Grapefruit which are awesome! My first pick there would be C99 if you can manage the stretch and don't mind the work, 2nd choice would be Pure AK for ease of growth and all around plant. $7-10 each, $25-35 for 4.

For Vision I would look at AK49, Northern Lights, Critical Impact, Chrystal queen, cheese, bubble yum, super skunk. For them my first choice would be Northern Lights or AK49. Both should be easy grow. Around $7 each, or $30 for 5

Pyramid might be your best bet all around tho. I would get Tutankhamon, and/or Anestesia. The Tut is an AK plant and everyone says is from the original AK47 from years ago and is the best you can get. The Anestsia is a very indica strain that is a heavy stone. Around $10 each, or $40 for 5.

Nirvana has many great strains. Ak48, Blue Mystic, Aurora Indica, Bubbleicious, Northern Lights should all stay fairly short and even and be great choices. They are $8 each or $40 for 5.

Also G13 Labs Pineapple Express is a GREAT strain for a first time too. It is pretty good smoke, not elite but it is good. And it also yields great, and is one strain that is super easy to grow in almost any condition. I have grown quite a few of these over time. They are $10, or $45 for 5.

And I really like Humboldt Seed Organization for cheaper Fem seeds. Their Blue Dream is a great plant, and would be my first choice out of everything if you can afford them, and don't mind topping them a few times and dealing with their stretch. They are $12, or $53 for 5. Also others to look at are Desert Disel, Green Crack, Pineapple Skunk, and sour blueberry, and trainwreck. Their Pineapple skunk would probably be the easiest to grow and yield very well, and the sour blueberry being a close 2nd. The pricing on those 2 are $10-11 per seed, or $41-48 per 5 pack.

If you have anything in particular you are looking for I can help you more. I was just finding what was the cheapest strains that I knew would make for a good easy grow. Out of all of these listed here my first choices would be HSO Blue Dream, or maybe FMS C99 if you could handle the stretch of them. But for a honestly easy easy grow I'd probably go with HSO Pineapple Skunk, or G13's Pineapple Express, or any of the Ak and Northern Light strains.

I wouldn't buy anything that discounted from a seedbank. That low of a price and you can't really complain about what you get.... lol.

Other than SLH, I've never heard positive things about greenhouse nor seen grows that made me want to jump and buy their gear. I just don't see why when so many other breeders consistently have a better reputation.

Part of it also is what a douche canoe Arjan is, I simply can't bring myself to line his pockets with any of my change. I find his attitude strongly off putting. I can see others not minding nor caring, yet I tend to support those who have better reputations, gear and overall more positivity surrounding them. Again, that may not be a criteria for another buyer, it just is for me.

I'd buy something at a discount if it's something I wanted. When it comes to price, I have a ceiling, not a floor. It's a reason I haven't bothered with Dr. Greenthumb or Loompa for that matter. Can't imagine paying that kind of money for a handful of beans when I could get two or more packs of breeders I'd much rather grow and know I'll find something good.

Greenhouse was a monster in the industry before the industry was full of legit competition.
Now most educated growers know what Greenhouse is and refuse to deal with them.
First thing Greenhouse did was start a subsidiary, Strain Hunters, to try to get fresh customers.
Now they are trying to dump stock.

Don't fall for the ploy.

I also popped some docs in 2012, some didn't germ. Smells good though when flowering.

I germed 1 a few months ago and it stayed 3 inches for weeks before succumbing to scissors.
