Greenhouse Seeds are bunk.

Well I purchased a few greenhouse seeds a while ago and just started flowering 2 weeks ago. I bought feminised seeds as I dont have a means to use clones at the moment and needed a quick harvest. The strain is Himilaya Gold and it was a 5 pack. Well yesterday I stumbled across 3 Males. Not hermies or an odd ball her and there but a one hundred percent Male. This is my first time dealing with greenhouse and is also my last. I am going to email Greenhouse tomorrow and if they do not put this right I will advise any and all gardeners not to use their seeds. Usually I grow exclusivly with Sensi and think I'll be going back to them very soon.

let us know the outcome? A good company should respond favorable. I've only tried one W. Rhino from a pack and the runt won't grow....vs. others not a good experience...

very well, heres what I got from Greenhouse today. In my opinion it is very generalised and not written on a personal basis. ie. They have these letters draughted up already for when customers do complain. In my opinion I think this must be a lot.


The seeds you buy from Green House Seed Company are 100% feminized and they are also hermie-free (as long as the plants are not put under stress).

Cannabis plants are normally dioecious: the sex is separated on distinct plants (incomplete flowers).
Hermaphrodites express both sexes on the same plant.
Hermaphroditism (or monoecious mutation) in Cannabis is just a survival mechanism. It is a response, triggered by stress; the plant senses that it is not going to procreate and that the conditions around her are not optimal, so it forms opposite sex flowers in order to pollinate itself. This insures two things - survival of the species and propagation of the hermie tendency (which solidifies survival of the species).
Feminized seeds can hermie if the light schedule is not good, if the temperatures are extreme and irregular, if the feeding is intoxicating them, and if any stress factor interrupts the normal flowering cycle.
Since it is a survival mechanism we believe that most females have the ability to become hermies. Simply introducing light during the dark periods of the bud cycle can often induce it. It's known as light poisoning.

Green House is leader in feminized seed breeding, and the techniques employed in the making of the seeds are the most advanced, created in cooperation with laboratories and scientists in different countries.
By buying feminized seeds the chances of a hermaphrodite being cause by genetics are even lower than if you bought normal, non-feminized seeds. The reason is that the female seeds are created by he seeds produced by the pollination of its own flowers contains only female DNA.

Another thing to consider is that different strains have varying stress thresholds, meaning that some strains are easier to stress into becoming a hermaphrodite than others. You may have selected strains that have a low stress threshold and were affected by mild stress that might not have impacted other, more hearty strains.

i got fem himalaya gold and they all have worked out for me very nicley. i did recieve white widows from seedsman seeds and the supposed fem were all males.i just said fuck it and grew the rest

yeah well I suppose these things happen but for a first experience with this seed supplier its not good. I'm going back to sensi.

the WR i got 1/5 sprouted ... that's awful .. my bagseeds have better germination rates..

That is a real shame that happened but I have grown near countless Green House Seed strains and never had what I could define as a disappointment. I never had a bad germ rate, and in fact just the opposite, and even with regular beans I had a high percentage of females and never had a feminized bean not be a female.

I do buy from other breeders too but I tend to look at Green House Seeds gear first every time I set out to buy something and normally there is almost always at least one of their strains in my purchase. I highly doubt that will change.

I am not saying that everything in their line is the epitome of genetic achievement but it is all good to very good to great so I see it as being a real value when the rest mentioned above along with price is factored in.

I got a fem pack from greenhouse with cheese, himalaya, el nino, big bang, widow. THey all germed and were all fem's so I can't really complain considering the plants turned out to be identical to all the information they supply on the strainds.

80% of seed banks are scams,or just plain BS,but the other 20% serves the growing community well sensi seeds,seed botique, and soma seeds are my favorite,idk if they are the best but they have yet to do me wrong, i did get the wrong seeds one time from sensi but they fixed it up np,i go to choose a free pack of my choice for the inconvenience of equal or less value,but feminized seeds are not worth the money,you can get good results from a 10 pack of standards

Well now its come to my attention that one of my Great White Sharks has hermied. First time I've experienced this. Only had one or two balls that I pulled off but if more develop she/he's getting the chop. I'm quite unhappy with Greenhouses seeds. Doesn't even come close to the quality of Sensi Seeds. And the customer support is rubbish. And the hermie was no fault of mine. Absolutely no stress at all. I will never recommend greenhouse to anyone. You might get a few good beans out of ten but if you Grow sensi you will get 10 great beans out of ten.

I have alskan ice, white widow, hawaiin snow, strawberry haze, super silver haze so far so good all females..only thing I dont care for from greenhouse is the colored seeds, i think the color thing was a good idea but it needs to be perfected the germ time is too long with that coating stuff on it, but once you get pass that i think the plants have very strong genetics....

Well said think fem seeds seem to produce less than optimum results. Its a shame that reg seeds are getting harder to find from some companys like greenhouse and dutch passion...or at least from the seedbanks.

I find it rather odd that you said you have one single hermi but then you say if you use Green House seeds; "You might get a few good beans out of ten."

Well based on your own experience it appears that you will get 9 good seeds out of a pack of 10 and if you bought more than one pack of 10 and only had 1 hermi that 9 goes up.
　
I have used MANY Green House seeds and never had a hermi and never a male in a pack of feminized beans and have never been disappointed by Green House Seeds in any way.

Greenhouse genetics are the finest of all.

I couldn't care less about male/female ratio's - its got nothing to do with genetics.

It is possible some people just had bad experience with them,but i looked at there website and it says"Green House Seed Co. Feminised Seed Catalogue. Guaranteed Germination and 100% Hermaphrodite Free! "So should it not be that way?i cant say if they are bad or good i have never used there seeds, cause they don't send to usa

I can promise you this is not true. And yes I got a few good plants from the batch. 15 greenhouse all together and 5 dutch passion. The Dutch Passion Green Spirit are growing great, And so are most of my greenhouse seeds. But when I'm given a guarantee I expect it to be true. I'm not going to be able to relax at all about this grow in fear more will hermie or just come out shit.
I'd recommend anyone to grow some actual quality genitics such as Sensi and then compare them to Greenhouse. The reason I'm mentioning sensi so much is because usually I grow exclusivly with them. And will be doing from now on. Maybe with 2 or 3 plants of different origin on the side.

exactly .... the genetics seem to be good, but that color coded shit just fucks germination up .. they could find a way to make it thinner?? cause i think it causes alot of stress for the little coddy's to pop open .. and left a stiff, film-like residue on mine...

Well, I've got an update, one more of my great white sharks turned hermie. This is just a joke. Never again will I grow greenhouse. Rubbish.
