Light is bad for them which is the whole reason I have a red cup covering the clear cup!
This way I get the best of both worlds and can clearly see when it gets root bound but the outside sleave of the red cup keeps the roots dark!

My clear cups are setting inside inside black solo cups.Clear cup is only lifted out briefly for root inspection. Certainly not necessary just entertaining to watch root development.

I think this is an excellent and useful idea that i will definitely be using from now on!! It will be useful for me, because i have a tendency to let seedlings go too long in solo cups before up-potting. So, this will take the guess work out completely!! (And will be entertaining taboot!)

On my set up the clear cups are 12 or 14 oz (can't remember) and the black solo is 16oz. Smells good not like over powered! I can definitely taste the grape in some phenos! It's overall pretty dam good! I'm very happy!

@Greenthumbs256 Man those nug shots got me drooling! My jelly pie and blizzaed bush are starting to veg out very nicely now- got the scrog down low, will probably need a second level screen. Taking clones this week, will let them fill in a bit more, then up the PnK, flip.
