Green crack & Blue Dream, terrile stretching and leaf curling. RDWC.

I have 4 green crack and 1 blue dream in 5 gallon RDWC buckets. they vegged for about a month before flowering, it has been about 4 weeks since I switched to 12/12.
The green crack has stretched like crazy this whole time. I trimmed about bottom 1/2 of plant plus most side shoots, cut them back to just main colas. Trimming was done at end of first week and end of third week (after 12/12)
They vegged under floros first 2 weeks of veg, then 2 weeks veg under HPS, and now its been 4 weeks since i switched to 12/12. The buds look tiny and so stretched and leafy. Luckily the BD did not stretch much.
Also both strains have leaf curling, mostly the smaller leafs curling up.
Using CES nutes, had them at about 800PPM when I noticed the curling, flushed one day then brought it down to 500ppm they are still curling and getting worse.
4x 1000w vented HPS, sealed room with co2 on a timer. AC keeping room at 85, sometimes it will go above that, maybe 87 and I will dim the lights and bring it back down. Lights of temps are between 75-85. Humidity is between 35-50%
Pics
Sorry, I know pics look terrible in the HPS light, and I'm sure my crappy camera doesn't help much either.
Buckets, green crack are the four on the right, BD is bottom left corner

Should add, that since 12/12 lights have been between 12"-18" from tops. I read that the closer the light, the tighter the spacing between nodes.

What is you PH at and the temperature of the water? This will make a big difference in there ability to grow. Also your air temperature is a tad too high 81-2 should be max under 80 is preferred.

Next thing I noticed is that you have no fans (or so it seems from the pictures) circulating air and moving the plants.

Also using a HPS light to veg is not preferable, veg stage uses mostly blue spectrum of light. 12" is good as long as the tops are not getting burned.

I think the leaf curling issue is related to the PH of the water / temperatures issue. The stretching in the veg stage was cause by not enough light in the blue spectrum. Temperature / PH being off can really affect growth, also keep in mind that you still have 6 weeks left of flowering, both Blue Dream & Green Crack are mostly sativa and they like to be tall and stretchy. A bunch of the bud growth is done in the last 3 weeks so only time will tell on the buds. But they do look healthy.

Let me know about the temps and ph levels, also are the tips of the leaves burned at all? let me know anything else that might be helpful and ill try to help you get them happy :)

P.S Its hard to tell from the photos but i think the tips have a slight burn to them, how are you controlling water temp, ph and algae?

Osiris, thank you for taking the time to offer some advice.
Rez Temp is usually around 70-75 being cooled with a DIY water chiller(made from water cooler)
PH is usually 5.5 - 5.8 after adding nutes. Never really need to add PH down or up, usually stays stable.
Not really any burnt tips, but some leaves are cupping in on the edges, especially at the top of the plant. I had temps at 85 because I heard that's were it was supposed to be with co2. I will try to get temps down to around 80. And will take better pics tonight.
Have a wall mount fan on one side of room, and have a 10" fan and can filter on the other side, scrubbing the air 24/7 (this fan circulates the air very well)
Thanks again.

Well sounds like you got it down... how many harvest do you have with the setup? I'm curious if you changed anything from last time or are doing something different. I have also heard about the temps with co2 being at 85F but have not tested it. Basically it must be a heat issue, what is the temp at the tops of the plants with the light on? There is nothing else really that I've read of that can cause it, they look very healthy. Hope it helps at all and keep growing :)

This is my first run with a sealed room, and with the RDWC, so needless to say I am open to all suggestions.
I think you are right about the temps. The leaves tips aren't burned, but they are cupping in and drying up, the worst of it being at the top closest to the lamps. I have raised the lamps to about 20" and lowered temp to 81. I have a feeling I'm in for some fluffy buds.
Here are some more pics

Ya looks like sign of heat stress. Were are you taking you air temperature measurement from? You should check tops of plant bottom and air away from the light, you might find much higher at tops. Check out my grow site have info on how my boxes are setup do you can get an idea. Also next time use Indicas they are more resistant to the temp issue. In full flower my 400 watt MH light is about 16 inches away from the tops but my temp at my top never goes past 82 and they have no signs of heat stress. Hope that helps and keep up the good work, there looking nice :)

Ps if you can fix the heat issue they should come back and be nice dense buds, just gonna take time to get it where you want it

As spacing increases, light is exponentially weakening with distance (inverse square). Thus, the plant responds by lengthening its nodes to get closer to the source of the light. Keep that light as close as you can without creating heat burn to keep those ladies buds tight.

beautiful buds! rep.

I am having the same issues in my tent right now also. I have 2 1000w lights, air cooled, in a 5x10 tent. Carbon filter w/ a 6" fan exhausting the space. Temps are around 80 lights on, and high 60s/low 70s lights off, and the humidity is around 60%. I just turned on my dehumidifier, but it doesn't seem to be helping too much. 18 x Chemdawg. Cutting Edge nutes. First time on this strain, and I am battling a little powdery mildew epidemic. I am at day 40 and had to spray the ladies again yesterday w/ JMS Stylet oil and Serenade (first app. was at day 21). I thought my left curling issues were related to the foliar spray, but I am assuming you havent sprayed yours lately? My leaves literally look just like yours. The PM is under control for the moment....
