Grass smell on white widow !!

This is my second grow with white widow. The last time I thought I cut too early and got a grass smell.

I let this grow 91/2 weeks in flower and I still get a grass smell. They have been hanging for 7 days and smaller buds seem dry. What the hell. Flushed for 2 weeks before harvest.

Any advice ?

White Widow doesn't have a very skunky smell to it at all. It's a horse of a different color when it comes to that.

I grow it exclusively and to me it always smelled like a very weak, subdued rosemary. Sort of spicy, but not like typical weed at all. After aging in jars for a while, it develops a stronger aroma.

It had a great smell as it was growing and still does as long as you touch it. But when I put it in jars and comeback later it smells off.

Thanks for the reply. Even tho the smell is off it is some pretty good weed.

What chemicals did you grow it with? Shoulda went organic, you wouldn't have all these confusing barely there, not there scent problems.

for what it's worth, i've done full wet trims, dry trims, half and half. hung with fan leaves. hung without. i've done 3 day drys, 8 day drys. i've washed my buds in diluted hydrogen peroxide, water, etc. pretty much experimented with every type of harvest.

only time i've gotten that "hay" smell is when i harvested immature buds

That is what I thought was wrong with my first grow. This time I went 9 1/2 weeks into flower and still got it. Buds were very fat and pistols were brown and trichs were turning amber. Flushed for 3 weeks.

my only guess then is its the genetics of the plant or it dried way too fast and got into jars too late. (<60%RH)

My WW always smell like hay when I chop them. After 2 weeks in curing jars however the aroma is sweet and spicy goodness.

It is an oldschoold varietal grown in the Netherlands, a few decades ago, and was popular because it smelled less than many of the skunkier ones during production. The coffee shops are legal, but they have no official source of weed....
