Grams per watt is a incomplete measure... I think....

Ok I hear about the gram per watt that everyone seems to worry about but it seems to me we need to factor in time. Say if I flower 14 weeks and get 1.2 grams per watt vs 10 weeks at .9 gram per watt. It seems like you'd get a gram x watt per flower days or something.

1000 watt
1000 grams
Gives me 1 g/watt, take that and / by flowering days

50 flower days gives you .02 grams per watt per day

90 flower days is .01111 grams per watt per day.

Maybe?????? Someone please educate me.

not only this, people dont take in consideration everything else than the lights that are using power like cooling system, portable fans,... it also adds up!

well i think a gram per watt is far fetched for most people. 1,000 grams is more than 2 pounds for a 1,000watt light. but im sure there are alot of people that will say they do it all day. i pull a little over a pound a light im going to try for a p and a half and thats less than a gram per watt. id say .05 grams per watt is realistic
 
I'm just thinking someone who gets 1.4 g/watt with a long flowering 14 week strain vs someone who gets .9 with a 50 day indica who really wins? The indica guy harves almost 2 times to the others 1 time but both post the same measure online and it's not the same.

yeah i feel it.and i have seen people saying they get 1.4 grams a watt. thats 3 pounds for a 1,000 watt light. bullshit lol for sure bullshit.

Thats the low end of my yield from a 4x8 table with 72 lollipopped plants with 3 1K lights. I usually got at least 7 per harvest.

It may be inexact, but that's the yardstick by which it's measured. You take into consideration only the wattage of the lights. Now grams per lumen might be a bit more realistic, but either way, how does one account for flowering times? Does a 60 day plant have a higher GPW than a 120 day plant? No, just different flowering times

3024 grams in a 8 week flower gives you 19,656 in a year. Now \ by 1000 watts and you get 19.656 prams per watt.

I'm not saying I have an answer, I'm just asking the question but it looks to me flower days matter.

flowering for any longer than 10 weeks to me is way out of the picture. I like to go 8 and sum change 9 max. it must suck to have to wait allmost 4 months. damnnnnnn

i dont think it goes by how much power is consumed over a period of time. just wattage per wieght even if you have 50 watts and pull 50 grams and it takes 8 weeks or if you have 50 watts and pull 50 in 20 weeks. its still the same amount of wieght per watt it just costed more for one setup

You would think, and it's true if you are comparing actual wattage USED. But it's just a yardstick to measure yields by light size. You COULD take all the power consumed in the room only and figure your exact gram per watt that way.
Look at it this way, a Sativa will yield XX grams per watt in 120 days (example only), and an Indica will yield the same XX grams per watt in 60 days. Now granted you've consumed more power with the Sativa, but just to compare yields, grams per watt is entirely satisfactory. You take that same Sativa and it will yield less with a 400w and even less with a 250w. It's a generalization, not an accurate exact measurement.

It all depends on what you want and the strain you grow. I had a Guatemalan Sativa landrace that would twist L'il Waynes head but it was right at 130 days until finished. Very dreamy trippy up high, no couch lock with that one. Not a real good strain if you are maximizing harvests, but then, you wouldn't believe what I can get for a zip of that if I told you, either!!! 1 zip or 5 pounds, it's the same price!!!

try dividing by 3000... there is 3 1k lights in the room!
