Grams Per Watt In Peat Moss

Hi,

I am just wondering if anyone would like to share what their best grams per watt has been in peat moss… I am curious because I heard that you can do better in hydro, but wanted to see if there's anyone out there that has been successful with peat moss.

Also, please share the other factors too… Did you have 1500 ppm for Co2… What nutes you used etc. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Light, space, and genetics are the main factors when it comes to gpw. There's only so much bud you can fit in a given space, medium is hardly relevant. Hydro doesn't result in higher gpw than soil either, just faster vegging, which becomes irrelevant if you run perpetual.

Thanks... Good info. What kind of GPS would you expect if you have 2 plants that were fIMed twice under a 1000 hps? They were also low stressed trained and look very heathy with GH floranova Jutes followed to an almost t and 1500 co2 at all times.

GPW is useful to set a target. 1.0 gpw that is. If that 1000watter is on 5x5 for example, and you vegged those two plants for a long time so that you have about 30-60 bud sites / colas nicely spread out to fill the space than that 1.0gpw, or 2lbs is what you should be aiming for. At the very least you should get half of that. In reality it'll be in between 1 or 2 pounds. Post some pics and I might be able to make a better guesstimate.

Do you have a plant count limit? 6 or 9 plants under 1k watt works much better to achieve 1gpw.

ive set my sites on 1.5 gpw or so. im about to harvest my first SCROG crop but before i tried SCROG'ing i routinely averaged 1.2 gpw just growing xmas trees with a net for support about 3' up under 1000 HPS. topped once, no LST just spreading them out in that net. im guessing that SCROG'ing will yield a better gpw. ill need to see 1.3 gpw or so to make it worth all the extra effort but if gpw is what your after go SCROG u can see my journal if u want, watch me fail or succeed lol. i have a 4X8 screen on my canopy under a 1000 HPS, looks very promising so far as long as the entire area get filled in

Yea, I have actually heard that 4 works really well… Yea, there is a plant limit, but next time could add way more because we're under it… Here is a pic for ya… I'm interested in your questimate. Oh and if the left one looks funny, it's because I just tied the top of it down… They are going on to week 3… I can tell you from looking at other grow journals, that these ones had very obvious buds on them at day 7, where most of the journals I looked at didn't really have buds forming yet, so I think they are doing well. Never did 1 gpw before, but this one looks better than ones before.

Thanks a lot everyone!

I get that too when I veg long enough, i.e. till they are mature and show preflowers during veg already.

It looks like you're not using much of the space you have, or better said, seems like you're wasting a lot of that light, which makes it hard to even give a guesstimate but I think you're looking at roughly 8 to 12 oz.

In addition to light, space and genetics, I should have mentioned canopy control, especially when you don't have a SoG. Next time prune for main stems only and spread them out more so you use that surface area your light shines on more efficiently.

What do you mean "prune for main stems only"? Do you mean FIM only the tops of them and don't FIM anything below the very top?

When you use canopy control to create a field of bud sites, for example through cropping, scrogging, topping or LST, you're basically creating a SoG but instead of each cola being an individual plant each branch is a cola or "bud site" as I prefer to call it.

canopycontrol.jpg

Just a quick and dirty example. Whether that canopy control is LST, scrog, or manual cropping, or topping or fimming doesn't matter. Prune for main stems so you end up with something similar to a SoG. In a SoG you got many plants packed together, short veg time. If you want to achieve the same (with less plants so longer veg) in a somewhat clean manner and end up with all similar sized colas instead of some colas and lots of small stuff, prune for main stems. To put it differently, remove the sucker branches (as soon as possible, i.e. during veg) which wouldn't exist in a SoG either.

Nice post Sativied... my next test (after the current sexing procedure I'm in right now) is going to be a mainline test :)

On a side note, I *love* my Jack Herer for a SoG... it grows with a single cola only (no side branching), so absolutely no training or snipping is needed to pack the plants in literally side-by-side.

Don't count the chickens before they hatch.I dont think your set up proper to get 1gpw. Those two plants 6oz dry tops. if its more I will be shocked.

Mainlining is a good way to do it but it will add at least a month on your veg time.
Yes, that was exactly my point. And the same thing (for example 8 colas) can be achieved by topping and some strings or cropping. Or simply by bending over the terminal. Won't give the fancy mainlined stems but we're not growing ornamentals.

I hate to see people get their hopes up and then get let down in the end. Its like watching a kid get his balloon popped
