Got to go out of town - worried about my plants

I have to be out of town from Sunday evening to Friday night for work. So, my plants won't be getting any water. I have been watering about every 3rd day. one of the plants was really drooping this morning and I am worried that one won't make it 5 days without a drink. Would a bigger pot help it retain some more moisture? The plants are under a 600 watt hps.

Thanks.

Well that really sucks after what I have been through with these plants.

I think I might drop the light cycle down to like 9 hours or something. I would rather stress them that way rather than kill them.

I wouldn't say it is an absolute certain death, my plants for some reason don't drink a whole lot they can go for 6 or 7 days if I water til it comes out the holes, but I usually water ever 5 days with a little less water.

I could also switch them to fluorescents during that time. I think cutting the heat down and keeping the air circulation down might help. I got to do something.

Well, thanks for some encouraging words..

yea dude, ur on the right track.. the more arid, the greater the plant's water retention will be.. put a huge fan right on the damn thing, saturate the soil before you go, try to make it as cold as possible, switch to the fluorescents and actually I would go so far as to put some sort of material between the light and the plant so that it still gets light, but a minimal amount.. you basically want the thing to go into like a hibernation, making it cold cold is the key.. u will be surprised how resilient a weed can be in conditions like that, it will survive and not grow during that time..
good luck!

how big are your pots - at the time mine were 1 gallon, and the plants drank every other day. if yours are bigger, and you water them real good before you leave, they might be ok.

Maybe it is the temps in my room, because they stay between 70-75 that could be why I don't get a lot of water loss.

guys they sell tablets that desinegrate and act as water for the plants. people that plant in the wild use these and leave their plants for weeks. i left 2 plants for 4 weeks and came back and one was dying while the other was healthy as can be. maybe some one watered it maybe not. it was a live and verrry health, use the tablets, i cant give you a name :(

Thanks for the great suggestions. I just got done transplanting them into some bigger containers - about 1 foot square. Not sure how many gallons. All 3 of the plants looked almost root bound, so this is maybe turning into a good thing. I am going to replace the 600 watt hps with 4 CFL's tommorrow night and then give them a good soaking Sunday morning. Then I will cross my fingers for 5 days.

Here is a picture of one of the plants in its new pot. Wednesday was 2 weeks into flowering. this one is getting buds all over the place.

I just read the first half page of your post and don't know if anyone has mentioned something like this, but have you thought about those bulb things you see on late night television that just stick inside the soil and as your plant needs water it extracts it from the bulb... Here, I'll put up a link.

Good luck sir.

My uncle told me about using a rabbit watering bottle as sort of a drip system if you know what I'm talking about.

I had not seen this particular version of the bulbs. I really didn't know if they would work reliably or not. Thanks.

Flush 'em and put some mulch or something on top of the dirt to stop evaporation and you should be ok. I go 3-4 days between waterings and you're talking about 5 days. They shouldn't be dying in 5 days. Maybe raise the lamp a bit to keep soil temp. down. Water them right before you walk out the door and as soon as you walk in.
