Anyone own any Henry lever actions? Just picked up a .22lr carbide and she's a beaut but I had some issues (magazine tube is real hard to open and close, and some fit issues on the stock to the receiver). I emailed them and the next day they were already sending out replacement parts for me. Brand new stock, new front sight and new magazine rod. I'm really surprised on how awesome their cx service is.(lifetime warranty no questions asked) Made frustrations melt away quick. Now as long as everything is kosher with the new parts I'll be a happy camper again. Hate getting a new firearm with issues but I suppose it's pretty normal nowadays...I just wanted to go plink! Grrr.

I have a short wish list of future guns and a Henry in 30-30 is definitely on there. I dig the octagon barrel version with brass hardware

I'd love a 30-30 and a 410 lever as well but they're on the bottom of the list right now.
They just came out with a 9mm homesteader too.
I like the octagon barrels they have a really nice look.

Just looked up the homesteader, damnit add another to the list. I have plenty of mags laying around. I think a couple other companies make something similar (ruger for sure)

mine has been flawless. I also picked up a cheaper Crimson Trace red dot and its surprisingly good quality.

top of my wish list for rifles is a 1903 springfeild rifle chambered in .30-03
it was the next rifle and cartrige that came out to replace 30-40 krag.
the .30-03 was not in service long, i think 3 years tops..goverment replaced the round with .30-06 .

I'd love to get some time behind one for a bit to discern if it truly works for me. (any dot) I had dual cataract surgery 20+ years ago before the tri-focal lenses/etc and I'm sighted for distance...each eye/lens a bit different (needed reading glasses instantly after the surgery).
Irons work...and I do love my Tritiums...but I have to close an eye cus I just can't focus both eyes that close in.

Years ago while sheep hunting in the Alaska range I found an expended 30.01 casing where nobody should even be. It was black from exposure but I figured it likely had been fired by a market hunter over 100 years ago.

My favorite from my collection is my M1 Garand. Mentioned at work one day how I’d been trying to get my hands on one when a co-worker mentioned his dad has one he would sell. Took him some time to convince his old man but finally he agreed. When we went there I understood what the hold up was. Dude was full on militia with an absurd amount of firepower/ ammo. 55 gallon drums full of ammo all around, 100s of rifles and paranoid as all hell. $500 in early 2000s
Anyway, ran the serial numbers it was used in the Korean war. Bought a new stock for it, don’t really like it tho, looks to clean and like a replica. Still have the OG stock, I’ll probably put it back on.

me i like that old stock you have over the new one.
i have a m1a that has a cracked stock, right at the wrist pin.
debating on getting a fiber glass replacement for it.

The original stock is in good shape, some dings and dents but no cracks. Stumbled across a site Dupage trading company, had a bunch of parts and stocks. Got carried away and made the impulse buy, I think I paid $200. But I do agree, I like the old over the new.

My dad had his corneas replaced twice. I think that's what it was. They used donors and stem cells to reattach them? Crazy shit. He seen blurry for years but he's back at it now. I'm getting his lazy bones back to the range and he's loving it. Good to spend some quality time with pops.

I love irons, but my range is unfortunately only 25 yards so its not very hard to hit paper with em. I actually have more practice with irons because even my buddies with zero range time can shoot the hair off a fly's ass with a red dot at that distance. Even the worst range in my area has rentals with dots, id suggest a range visit to either rent or just handle one from the case/shelf. If the Cabelas near me isnt busy ill often bug the guys working there and handle some of my future hopefuls

Dad got a Henry lever (22 lr) a couple years ago. Neat little gun no issues. His cheek weld is very inconsistent at 87 yrs young but still does ok with it. Had to slide the front sight over for him some, which puts me over to the left about 2 inches but I'm good with that. Lol

I'm having issues cycling snap caps.... Hopefully not with live rounds. Will see this weekend. Sucks sending in a brand new firearm for repair but Henry's customer service is top notch. I heard the turnaround time is very low. They pay for everything. Shipping etc. so I mean it's less of a sting when they stand behind their work. Still a pain in my ass but if they make it a 100% I'll be ok with that.
From what I'm hearing their newer runs have been inconsistent. This is what happens when demand rises and they try to cut costs.....
Nothing's getting cheaper anytime soon.

Our (outdoor) range is a 30+ minute drive away so I'm currently starting the push to just build one here at home. Found a guy with railroad ties who will deliver so I'm going to buy a stack and build some nice backstops to blast at. Bought an Omega9 for the fun out of courtesy to my neighbors but have yet to use it. We have an indoor range at the gun shop but I'm not a huge fan of (paying to) shooting indoors so I never go there.
I had a Sig w/a dot in my hand at the local gun store but focusing on it wasn't much different than the irons...aka...tough to do. Not sure I need 'em/want to try to learn something new @ this point in time...especially since I would never want all of that bulk on my EDC weapon anyway....and don't need it at the range to hit the bullseye. Had I started out using one it'd be different....and I get that some swear by them. I'm just not sure it's for me.
