A good family friend recently passed & left me a military grade Garand and a Springfield 1873 Trapdoor w/ bayonet & sheath + a ton of ammo among other things.

The M1 is very accurate & functions like a sewing machine - haven't worked up the Cajones to fire the old girl yet.

I'm sure you already know this but check the ammo you're going to use as the modern ammo can cause over pressure issues in a M1.

Thanks for the heads up - I've been reloading for about 30 & it's something I'm very aware of. Same with the Trapdoor 45-70.
He passed along a bunch of military issue 150 gr LC ammo with the M1.
I figured you knew about it but just wanted to throw it out there. Nice score on the ammo. I inherited my grand father's collection of military weapons when he passed and have long guns from WW2 from all the major countries involved in the war as well as several nice swords he got in Kyoto after the war when he was stationed there. I love the old rifles but only shoot the .303 Enfield he got converted to a short stock. It's a deer killing machine but I only used it for one hunt in his honor before retiring it to safe queen status. Congrats again on the awesome pickup.

I still want a nice m1 garand for the collection. Its either that next or a m1a scout. Got a socom 16 and a loaded m1a. The loaded trigger group is in the socom. Just seemed right.

Can hit a bowling ball all day @100yds with my m1a socom16 with red dot. Wtf else you need.
200 no. And i got that bad ass eotech with the 308 lines on it. That don’t work and i used to load matchkings. That’s what the loaded/standard length is for though. Iron sights all day baby.

Mofos who can see out to 300 are just bad ass
