Got a dutch? GROWING AND GROWING AND.....

Yea, they showed sex about 12 days in (about average), roughly 14 days in now. Roommates are usually asleep by lights on, so that's not too much of a worry. No smell yet either. I'm hoping to see an improvement on the Skunk by the time the soil dries back out. If I don't then the plan is to lower pH from 6.8 to 6.5 when watering and since I didn't get an answer about feeding and how heavy it should be, I'm going to give a tbsp. of all-purpose and 2 tbsp of bulb food. That should be plenty to get it through to the end, hopefully without negative effects.

Temps are stable between 73-76F(lights on) and 68F(lights off) and humidity does whatever it wants but usually stays between 20-30% which is great for flowering as far as I know.

Girls are doing okay, sorry I haven't gotten around to putting some pictures up, will do that more than likely tomorrow night. Quit smoking for a bit because I need a job badly, and I'm one of those depressed people so, without my meds I need to keep my mind and body busy.

Temps are getting harder to control since the outside temps. are starting to rise. Going to be hitting the mid-upper 80's the next two days. Temps in the closet reaching 81-82F which is fine, just not preferable. About 18 days into flowering now and about 6 days since sex was shown. Pictures to come late tonight, finally.

Whoa Whoa...calm down everyone. So much talking going on here.

Trich production has definitely picked up. I did feed the both of them for the last time for this grow. A lot of yellowing still happening but, I'm gonna just roll with it. Pictures to come within the next few hours, just want to let the girls get some light before I go pulling them away.

Well for some reason or another it's not allowing me to upload any pictures at the moment. I have taken a few of each will try again in about an hour or so. Didn't do anything different from any other time so it must be the site.

Well, still a no go on the pictures. I'll figure this out tomorrow. I did pull most of the yellow leaves, they came off very easily. Anything that had any green left in it, was left alone.

Well, still not letting me upload the pictures.

I want to get a 150 hps to lower electrical cost and have better light penetration for about the same amount of lumen output, if not more. But, I question the heat. They are a great bargain though at around 70 bucks for the entire system. So, the big question is heat. I have 9 CFLs ranging from 23-40 watts and they produce quite a bit of heat roughly a 10-15 degree hike. Would the 150 HPS with the ballast outside of the grow room be less of a heat issue than the roughly 300 watts of CFL? A quick answer would be nice.

Tried searching for the answer myself and the only direct answer I could find was that it would raise 6 degrees. Would this be an accurate assumption?

Going to make some investments over the next few weeks. Including pH meter, 150 watt HPS, DIY cool tube, fan speed controller. Maybe even some more black/white poly. Should run around $150 for the lot. Still looking for better prices on the fan speed controller and the pH meter so, if anyone knows a cheap effective route for the two, that would be great.

Hey, I keep on checking your thread and almost every second post you say that pictures are comming :)) and now you cant post it anymore?? :D man what kind of excuse is this? Let me share my way of posting pictures that never fails me.
first make sure your browser is updated, it's not internet explorer and you do not have active adblock addons installed which blocks pop ups.
1. open your photos with paint or gimp or photoshop whatever you use, cut important part of a picture and make new pic.
2. scale your picture down to 800x800 ( I always try to make them 800x800 800x600 or 600x800). it does not have to be exactly those numbers but its better when they are equal or bellow.
3. save them as jpeg
4. follow the pictures :D
1.jpg2.jpg

haha that said, lets get back to hps question.
Man I am really happy getting 150w hps. If you can, invest. I think if you will keep ballast out of the grow place temps will not rise that much as you expect after reading all those forums. for me 2x 80cm computer fans, one blowing to the lamp another taking out the heat and my plant tops does not show heat stress if they get like 3 inches away from lamp.. Please note that two computer fans is nothing, I do not have any other fan for circulating the air in my grow room. I keep ballast in the same room I grow, by the end of the day I cannot touch that thing with bare hands and still I do not see any noticeable change in temp and I had before 140W in total of cfl.
I had so many problems putting lights as close to the plant as possible so it could get more and now it became so much easier :) and all those lumens you get extra... gosh.. for you switching from that many cfls I guess you won't even see the difference.. Actually I am growing with 1x 150W hps and 2x 25W 6500K cfl. The only problem with this setup is that plants grows way better than it used to :D With this lamp and my grow room I will never veg for 7 weeks again :D
about ph meter.. it is convenient, but I would not be that much paranoid about as I used to be in the beginning. EC and pH are taking very big part in hydro, but in soil.. 6.2-7pH should be ok. And to get to this pH you don't need expensive pH meter, for me simple pH test drops does the job.. Unless you have problems seeing colors :))
about fan. it depends what fan you have, desk fan, or pc fan. for pc fan I would just get an adjustable resistor for a dollar or so, cut one of the wires and insert it in the electrical circuit, but if you are not very much familiar with electricity, then it might be easier to get one.
btw, what's exact parameters of your grow area? sorry if u mentioned that earlier

It's not that I don't know how to post pictures. As a matter of fact, I do it just as you explained (except for using a program to make changes) because I'm trying to avoid using a site like photobucket for them. Every time I've tried the past few days I get an error. I'll try it again in a few minutes.

I have 2 inline fans and I plan on using the 400CFM when I get the 150 hps which is why I'd need the fan speed controller, very loud fan at full blast. For when I make these changes, I have yet to decide whether or not I want to just make a partition for the closet or make a cab. More on this when I get everything together. Gonna take me a few weeks to get the money.

My objectives for the new set up are, heat control, light penetration, and a cleaner set up. I have roughly a 12F degree hike in temps with the current set up, which is why I showed concern for the heat from the 150. pH has been an issue for me in the past and I just want to rule that out by getting a meter. Closet is roughly 5ft wide, 2ft deep, and 6ft tall.

I was sad to see one of the ties got loose after lights off while the bulbs were still hot and one of the buds took a hit. My bulbs are 3 inches or less from the plant.

Tried resizing and stuff in paint but that made no difference..Guess I'll have to use a image hosting site til' I get this error figured out.

hehe I assumed you know how to upload, I was in a mood of being mr obvious :D also sometimes program fails if it does not like jpg, so I open with ms paint, and resave it, also if you are uploading pic bigger than 800x800 RIU will try to resize it and I guess this is why it fails to upload.. or maybe not..

haha looks beautiful man :) Just grab some beer take a chair and watch it growing :) it won't take a while..

about the bud touching the lamp I had that too on my previous grow... I came back after a week, my friend was watering the plant, but she did not know how to lift the lamp, I told her partially, but both, she did not know and I did not expect that plant will go crazy in stretching. So I burned main cola, however in the end it turned out not that bad.

and hps I think will not make that much of a difference, from what u wrote does not look like you will gave heat problem. if a fan will take out the heat from the closet.. Good luck :) But your cam.. is a winner :D I am not a drawer but I think I could draw better than it takes pictures, no offence :D

Yea, it sucks. I forgot to add camera to the previously mentioned list. It won't be some high tech camera, but I will invest in something better for that as well.

Well, we're about 24-25 days into flowering, with hopes of only 4, maybe 5 weeks to go. No smell lingering beyond the buds so I took my index finger and thumb and gave the colas a slight, extremely light squeeze to get a better perspective and damn they smell good. The Skunk has a nice sweet smell, and the Emerald Jack is outta this world with a lemon lime/citrus aroma, I recommend growing the EJ just for the smell alone.

Trich production on the skunk is amazing, and both are starting to pack on some weight. Sad I didn't take clones of either (due to their health) but I do have more seeds of them both, unfortunately just one more of the EJ (will order more of em' as soon as I can though).

A lot of changes will be made before I start posting about the next grow, I do plan to pop some more seeds soon in a temporary PC setup, but until I make more permanent decisions, I'll wait to post about it.

man, I took two clones from lower branches with very airy tiny buds from my c99 the day I harvested her. I did not used any rooting hormones, just cut diagonally, sticked it into soil and sprayed water on foliage everyday, cause I read about revegging and I wanted to try that just for fun. So one of the clone died, but one rooted and now it grows together with my other two plants. I was not expecting it to root, but since it rooted I did not throw it away and let it grow. I read that revegging clones from flowering period causes them to be more bushy etc. well not in my case, I'll make a pic of it, but in few words it looks like 2foot long stick covered in bud sites :D
so my point is at day 25 into flowering if you have some lower branches which does not get the light, you can trim and try to root them.

you can check my thread how that clone looked like covered with crystals and with some new growth coming out.

I'll wait til next round to take clones. At this point, just trying to let them keep what they have to finish off the last few weeks.

I have done quite a bit of research concerning NPK values, as well as micros. So, I'm confident my next grow will be fucking awesome. This I am sure of. A lot of things concerning the ferts. I used were just, wrong. I blame myself.

Going to pick up some blood meal this week, when I get some cash. It's cheap, but I'm on an extremely tight budget.

SIM, I recommend you give this a read,https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/267989-uncle-bens-,gardening-tweeks-pointers.html, it's pretty great.

Yeah good thread, I've been following a bit, saw your input in there as well :) But not all of it, so will do that, thanks. Ha only few weeks ago I said that yellow bottom leaves are something that always happen and it's a natural thing and that was so not true haha. but man, I've spent hours reading people input, until you will grow yourself only then those things you read will start making sense.. Here it's not like laying bricks with pretty clear directions, it's art, philosophy, biology and a lot of opinions. And most of them at some point go wrong... Just because they manage to get good harvest, does not mean that they are growing right, a lot of things nature fixes by itself. Haha Kite High in that and in some other threads completely change my understanding of how I actually had to grow, funny part that he with his opinion going against majority and I still feel that he's right " :))

But do you really want to do cloning? I think its worth if you have a lot of space or don't want to spend on seeds, cause you have to keep mother plant somewhere separately once you switch clones to flower. how many plants are you planning to grow on your next grow?
