i hear that cept the not bein cheap part eh:blsmoke: wen i started out with this cab i was thinkin just jerryriggin it up with some cfls and a computer fan then get the quality hydro supplies then make it all work with duct tape buut i ended up splittin a splitter so it ended up wit 8 bulbs off it (55-65 watters too they big ass fukers) and hangin it outta one lamp socket danglin by some twine (attached wit duct tape of course) and let it hang so i could sit bak and admire how id done it without listenin to these ppl on here sayin naah cfls are shit n shit n ended up crashin down on ma bucket and smashin all the bulbs so i said fuk it 1 bulb = alot less mess n nicer lookin too so now here i am no reflector nuthin just a bare ballast gettin hooked up by a buddy n the bulb n socket o n just so i could stay tru to ma cheep ass self hes usin a butchered extension cord and a plywood board to hook it up n im makin ma own cooltube with a goal of 100 buks n man u just saved my ass here gotta say man woulda bitched out n gone with the 200 buk fans if it wasnt for u man i just fukin hope it works

fuck naw 200 fo a fan, see thats what i mean id neva spend that much.
I like to have nice grow shit but i draw a very fine line.

It'll work tho.
Extension cords are still my best friend, you gotta drw power from diff rooms right:mrgreen:?
Use dat other 130+ n got buy something u always wanted or save. Or we else u need fo ya grow.

I try not to fall into that advertisn shit. N when i do i go get the same thing either a diff brand that does the same thing but cheaper.

I just want to let everyone know who is thinking of getting one of the booster fans, the way they rate the CFMs is different than the regular fan and they are not meant to pull or blow air through duct on their own.
With the booster fans, the CFMs that are listed is the "boosted" CFM. This is the amount of air that can pass through the fan before it becomes a restriction. It is not how many CFM the fan actually blows.
The "free air" CFM is the amount of air that the fans actually blow, and this is always way lower than the "boosted" CFM. These fans were made to ASSIST in pulling air through long duct runs, not be the fan pulling through the duct. They do not run well on their own. The pressure caused by pulling through the duct reduces the "free air" CFM significantly.
The more expensive inline fans will not lose their CFM ability like a booster fan will. They can pull through long duct runs and still keep their listed CFM. A booster fan will not do this. I have a 420cfm booster fan cooling my hood, and it barely blows compared to my 465cfm blower. Shit, my 130cfm computer fan blows harder than this fan.
When I first started growing, I didn't want to spend the money on an expensive fan, reflector, etc. After a few years, buying the cheaper items, trying to save a buck here and there, I figured out that it is just cheaper to spend a little more money in the beginning and get the quality product. There is no point spending $50 on a booster fan that you will be happy with for a couple of weeks, or maybe months, and then have to spend another $150 on a decent fan. Now you have spent $200 instead of just spending the $150 in the first place.
Save a little longer and get the quality product that you will be happy with for years to come.

nah way bob i checked up on these n it lists the free air push as up to 300 cfm on the biggest and the quality fans arnt just a little more expensive its questions of hundreds eh so ima try it out and ill make u eat ur words while im smokin em n i alreaady got the seeds so ima get this slap it together then save up for when i plant the other four i got thanks tho eh good to have both sides of an opinion

I have one of those booster fans. Its free air cfm is rated at 420cfm. My 130cfm computer fan blows more air. The static pressure from the duct reduces the cfms like crazy. Thats why you need a real inline fan and not a booster. The static pressure does not reduce the CFMs near as much.
The price difference is only like $120. You can get a 420cfm booster fan for like $40, or a good can fan that is like 440cfm for $160. Trust me, the can fan will out blow that booster fan any day.
I have one of these fans, and yes they work, but near as well as the can fans would. And the duct booster fans have a 1yr warranty, where as teh can fan has like a 5yr warranty. I am telling you from experience, these fans are not worth the money. I wish I would have saved another week and just bought the can fan. I have been using it for like 4months. I was happy at first, but now, I wish I had a better fan.
