Good growth, low nutrients

I am using the Lucas formula with Maxibloom, and supplemental KoolBloom (my plants are in flower). My question is, Lucas says to use around 7 grams per gallon of water. I am growing using DWC in a 5 gallon bucket. I have just now reached maybe 15 grams per 5 gallons with Maxi, and roughly 1-2gs of Kool this current plant has been in flower for 30days now. The plant looks fantastic, very bushy, lots of nodes, lots of white hairs but comparing the buds to that of some on the web of the same time frame they look like they may be a bit small.

I am slowly working my way to more nutrients, as I have been reluctant to buy a PPM meter. So I am trying to play it safe without burning the roots

Anyways, playing on the safe side of adding nutrients, would keeping them low potentially subtract from the amount of bud growth?

Also, my plants are drinking about a gallon of water a day.
I refill after two days with roughly two gallons of plain tap water. Then refill again two days later with nutrient rich water. Next batch will probably be 17grams of Maxi, 1-2g of Kool.

Thanks

This is where a TDS meter comes in handy.. The HG on Amazon is excellent for around $15.

I could be wrong, but mostly Nitrogen burns. Is it Liquid Kool or powder?
