Good bud but smells like straw

I grow nice buds there sticky sweet and fat, but when I dry them they smell like straw.
I use a fan about 3 days and then into canning jars. What am I doing wrong?

They just need to cure. Curing is basically slow drying the remaining moisture and clorophyll after drying. Just open your jars up once a day and it should be good in a couple weeks.

probably that damn fan bro! let them dry without direct air on them. let them dry S-L-O-W. curing isnt the issue its the drying process that is the issue. dont rush it keep them in a place not to warm and not to humid without direct air blowing on them. lots of people just use a closet with no fan.

It's best to hang them with a fan oscillating to keep the air circulated. Without it you risk fungus in heavy indicas, and the bud not drying evenly. That's not the problem, it just needs to cure. If your jar starts building up moisture then take it out and let it dry some more, otherwise leave it.

I agree with nazi puffin fresh, curing is what you need. I also agree not to fan buds directly, but keeping a fan in the room oscillating is a good idea. Like if you hang your buds up high, put the fan on the floor.

agreed. i have had this happen to 2 of my harvests.. even my WW from my last grow had a "wierd" hay smell at 1st.. i did dry to fast tho.. i ahd a box with a fan stuck in the side of it with a vent hole.. =/ they dried in about 3 days. lol. the smoke was actually pretty smooth (must have done a good job flushing or something) and i cured them for a while... but i found if you take a fwe of the bigger buds.. and break them in 1/2. and leave them in the jars like that instead of whole.. it helps iincreast the smell a bit.. cuz my buds would smell "ok" but once i cracked them open... they smell amazing.. like skunky fruity pebbles... lol and so i tried breaking a few open and lettin them cure like that.. and it seemed to help a bit.

good luck. and ps... curing does help ALOT!! the longer the better.. sum ppl say it takes like 4-5 weeks of curing to get bubblegum to get the "bubblegum" smell/taste.. thats jsut wat i've heard tho

I find that everything I cut down has the smell of a freshly mowed lawn. I live in a very dry climate so what I do is dry the buds out for three or four days to get all the moisture out of the leaves and buds and then drop them into some mason jars and vacuum seal them. Then all the moisture that was retained by the stem seeps out and evens out over the next few weeks and the final product is just right and smells like what you are looking for.
