Golden Teacher. Teach they will.

I will be trying a psychedelic for the first time in my 21 years of life. I wanted to grow them so that I knew where it came from. And I wanted to show off how delicious my Golden Teacher's look :hump::hump::hump:. But one question, does it look ready for harvest soon?

Everything I say is a lie.

So how much you going to do for the grand opening of your universe?

Don't forget to check the tires on your spaceship before you leave.

Not too sure yet. How much should I take the first time? I've read that the Golden Teacher's potency varies so I think I'm gonna start with very small amounts and work up to a good trip.

And yes, I do see your signature.

Love the teachers! Generally you want to take the flush when the largest caps are open and the smaller partially open.
From the tons of literature I've read it seems as though its best to pick the fruits before the caps start unveiling. The only time you let them fully open is when creating spore prints. Spore prints that fall on fruit bodies might stuck the growth of other neighboring mushrooms.

P.S. Cheers to new adventures! :D

I always picked my cubies when I saw the veil tearing on the biggest one, not too sure about Golden Teachers but they look much the same as a cubensis. Pick them soon after that and try for another run, I always seemed to get a bigger harvest with the second run.

Wait a couple days til they get a little bit bigger. Pick the big ones, let the smaller ones grow for a couple more days, pick. Then dunk your cake in cold water, put back into fruiting chamber for second flush. Good luck!

Nice work. I'm a fan of the golden teachers myself. Like everyone else said, I usually pick shortly after the veil breaks. Probably looking at another day or two. They grow very fast.

Here's an updated photo around 8 hours after the last pics. I'll post again in the morning. It's kind of odd, one cake is developing much more quickly than the others.

Looking good! You appear to have a good number of aborts. Don't neglect those. They're supposed to have greater concentration of the 2 psilo compounds (by weight).

Not uncommon. I have 8 ecuador cakes fruiting and 3 are ready to harvest right now. 3 need another day or two and 2 a little behind that still.

I will be harvesting this cake right now and probably will harvest the rest tonight or tomorrow morning. I'll try to post some more pics!

First cake harvested 94.3 grams and hopefully around 9-10 grams when they dry. This was the biggest cake and fastest growing cake of the pack. WOOO!!!!!!!! I can't believe it all worked out this was a first time grow with many beginner mistakes and this is an amazing experience just to grow them.:mrgreen::mrgreen:

next time try and pick them before the open and blow spores.
They will be more potent and you will be more likely to get subsequent flushes.

PS, as it is your first grow, you deserve to eat all of those in one dose and discoverthe true power of the shroom.
Most people never venture that far out of ignorance or fear.

It is said that spores give off a gas that inhibits further flushes. I have never encountered this. I have seen spores so thick on the surface of the casing soil that they crust over and cause the next flush some problems - of course, if you are growing any sort of bulk the spores can be harmful to those with sensative lungs or asmatics, the spores can coat the walls, fall upon your food and ruin carpet - they also tend to discolor neighboring fruit. Golden teachers, when the caps are entirely clean dry an authentic gold color that is quite beautiful, these are all good reasons to pick just after the veil breaks. I hear that pre-veil breaking mushrooms are more potent and I tend to believe it but I don't think they are noticeably so. I can verify that aborts (when picked before they rot of course) are, gram for gram, much more potent but I really don't know why.

There is something about a fully open cap however, that is estheticaly much more pleasing than picking before the veil breaks. Finally, because fresh mushrooms give one a different and more majestic effect (again, I don't know why, it could be something as simple as a psychosematic effect), pick and eat them with no concern for their maturity, simply select the ones you want to consume, pick them and stuff them in your mouth - there is no better way to do this. Those who wait to properly dry them and then make tea, or crush them, or dip them in honey or whathave you are missing the most valuable aspect of growing your own. I have friends who swear by munching them directly from their growing place from top to bottom without picking them at all - chomp chomp chomp.

many people have allergies to the spores also.
I agree you would not be able to tell the difirence in strenght by just consuming some.

I feel they tend to hold up better dried when they aren't fully open. Caps don't break off quite as much.

I've only ever eaten them fresh once and it was certainly different than dry. Can't quite put my finger on it. Hit me much faster and had kind of a buzz to it as I was coming up.
