What are you going to be selling?

Did your associate dump alot of money on silver when it was in its high or mid? I always wait for the dips. I have been waiting months to buy.

I bought a chunk at around $32 when the market was on the way down. I thought maybe it was going to stay at that support level. It kept falling so I have been watching it ever since setting aside more cash.

I prefer the safety of precious metals.
I'm looking to sell this Fund based around the Canadian Banks and Life Co's. I bought it in Nov 2011 when people were panicking over the sector, knowing there was little to worry about (perhaps due to a more detailed understanding of the sector). It pays a nice dividend almost every month (depending on NAV) and has increased in price nearly two-fold since then. I've gotten what I need from it, and there are other similar products available now which I feel are somewhat under-valued (and a little broader in scope), relatively speaking, that also pay the same type of divie. So, why hang on just for the dividend when I can get some price appreciation on top of it, elsewhere.

As for the person I was talking with (not an associate), I don't know all the details of when he bought his silver, but he's a "stacker", so I presume he bought into the false paradigm of collapsing currencies, and was buying all the way down (after sinking a shitload in near the highs). My discussion with him was very brief.

You should be careful with that "safety" premise. Sure, there is assurance it won't go to ZERO, but losses can dwarf whatever "safety" is left. And there is nothing to say the PoG/PoS won't blow through the median cost along the way... If you don't mind hanging on to your hoard for a decade, then sure, go ahead. But if you are looking to get ROI, I'd recommend diversifying a little more.
Good luck... and I mean that, sincerely. I don't like seeing people that aren't complete assholes getting hammered (unlike Peter Schiff... he's one prick that deserves bankruptcy).

I understand what you're saying with no doubt.

I feel that we are in such uncertain times financially.

Do you feel like the economy is stable? Do you have confidence in the U.S. Dollar moving ahead 30 years?
The economy is certainly stable. Look around.

30 years? I'll re-examine the best investments in one year, in five years, in ten years, etc. I don't need to have confidence that the United States economy will be flying in 30 years to make money today.

Even if it's not flying, that's not going to make money worthless. When the United States overtook the United Kingdom as the world's banker, the latter didn't collapse and disappear.

In honour of conceptual continuity, may I present to you, the famed Panty Quilt commissioned by Frank Zappa

Proof that soiled feminine undergarments pay.
Too bad Tom Jones didn't have the imagination to come up with one of these.

Not a gold bug but if we were still on the gold standard the price would not have fallen like it did.(under current circumstances , it could still drop in other situations.) Gold investment now is not even close to the same thing as it was in the early 70's before Nixon did away with the standard.

Cannabis $$ >gold anywho.... lol

No no, you got the receipe completely wrong.

Cannabis = dollars = metals.

Metals = whatever currency you want at whatever stage you want.

I can get anything I need traded for cannabis where I live. Not always the case with "metals" unless I go to a gold / silver / coin shoppe or a freak farm (crazies who think they are libertarians but are not)

Side of beef
multiple days worth of fresh veggies
eggs
water
beer
gold
silver
copper
bullets
tech for any home repair I can't do myself
and much much more.

or

I can drive 50 miles into denver to "trade", sell my gold at 90%. I do not go the wall street "here is your piece of paper that says you own some metals" route.

Good luck paying a bill with cannabis.

"Sure I need you to service my boiler, Im a huge drug dealer who considers cannabis a currency...any chance I can pay you in weed?"

Awesome plan, genius.

Are you seriously clueless about Colorado law? I can give cannabis away free all day long as long as the person is 21. Other people do work for free themselves. I live in the country not in the city. Bartering is an awesome talent not well known to many today.

Silver has fallen almost a dollar today. Anyone going to buy soon? I'm thinking I will start buying at around $15.

I buy and hold for the long haul so I'm flexible.

Edit: down $1.08

98% of real wealth comes from inheritance. A few lucky souls actually get wealthy through talent (singers musicians actresses sports greats etc.) incomes of more than 200K are a pretty rare breed and account for only around the top 5-10%. The rest of us "middle" class wonkies make up the shared non-wealthy/poverty/misery, passage of time called life. We get used to it and find it has its attractions, namely booze, sex, and drugs. It's not until later in life we quit all the nonsense and realize where we've been and what we really have, "Family". I realize that this site has its share of "millionairs" or wanabys, and this truth will pass them by, unless of course they were the recipients of parental welfare, or inheritance. those folks know not the truth and cannot easily learn it.
