Going from HPS to LED. Worth it?

Thanks for the compliment! Growing is an adventure and I usually learn by fucking shit up. :eyesmoke:

Regarding lights, high quality pre-builts are expensive AF!
Most growers would be WAY better off to go with a DIY kit if they are looking for value.

My LED lights were actually given to me by a close friend who quit growing and tore is grow room down. (It was better than mine by a long shot.)
It was a very generous gift and I am grateful.

Karma can be a good thing... :peace:
How do you rate the kingbrite spec for $150/60
Whats your view?

The biggest mistake I see people make with bright LEDs is underfeeding. That's where the 'meh' buds come from.
Gotta dial up the nutes, especially cal-mag.
Idk man I run my leds extreamly close like 10-12” away and I never push past 800ppms same thing with my 1000w hood at 8” from tops.... if I see run off ppm comeing out higher than influx im over feeding and wasting nutes and I back it down.... 8-10 oz per plant with 7 week veg from seed on blue dream an a.k.a. notorious heavy feeder I will say this bang on the money with cal mag I was at 200ppm cal mag and still had issues that didn’t go away untill I fed them 300 ppms cal mag... my cocotek a and b also have cal mag so they realistically where getting 300ish ppms and needed 400ppms total cal mag...... but that’s it man 300ppm cal mag 400ppm a and b that’s it I don’t use bud boosters or anything

I also do that to find the best middle ground, there's no point putting in 1.2 if you're consistently getting 1.8 out I would use 0.8/10 to try and soften the influx.

Nobody who knows their shit is disputing that HPS gets good yield and quality in relation to the fractional initial investment over Led. Bluntly put though, while you can personally grow with Hps you obviously lack the ability to grow with Led. And that's ok.. I would likely suck with hydro, but I won't slander it on account of my own limited ability.

How many watts do your lights pull at the wall?

My plants get bleached tips when they are 2 feet or closer -- which is not a good thing.

I run 4’bars 3000 k 10 of them in a 5x5 room. So that’s 480 watts. I use to run a 600 HPS. So far yields are the same. I like being able to get close to them for regular plant maintenance. I also find it’s easier to an even canopy with the spread out light. Only down fall is not enough heat. I run my dehumidifier to get my temps around 80 f. Also my lights were bought used at different times so I payed half of new price. So far so good I’m on my 3 rd round now 10 days into 12/12

CLEAN! got me excited. No LED but 3 more hours until my flower room wakes up. Which fixture is in the pic?

No hate - but the space doesn't look that filled out :leaf: maybe the feeding comment was on point? They look hungry
I ran into cal mag issues at week 4 and bumped up cal mag to 300 and it got worse for 1 week then stopped,a week after that they blew up that’s why my leafs look like that...and I pull 500 true watts in LEDs and 1000w magnetic ballist in a xxxl magnum hood useing hortilux bulb,my LEDs are 2x optic 1 xl (100w from the wall each) and 1x mars hydro tsl-2000 300 true watts

Ya week 4 flower hit then I started seeing spots so I made a new rez batch with 300ppm cal mag (ro water as base) and it slowly got worse for a week then stoped and they stalled out for a week then boom they blew up.. I also may or may not have been dealing with root rot And gave them a 3hr soak in undiluted 3%h2o2 to kill the rot which worked in one dose I’m sure that 3% did a hell of a job on them too so I’m guessing that attributed for the leafs looking like shit cupped with the original cal mag deficiency...ya it’s a lot of pain in the ass is what it is lol

Root rot is a bitch.
First symptom - the plant stalls. Doesn't grow or drink water.
It becomes systemic and will eventually show up as bud rot if unresolved.

Southern Ag GFF helps a lot.
Low dose as a preventative, stronger dose for infections.
