Nope how about you? And Germany is very forward thinking, and a majjor reason why they have a lot newer construction could have something to do with them getting decimated over the first half of the 1900's dont you think?

In another bid to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption, the European Union is requiring all new buildings to produce nearly as much energy as they consume starting in 2020.
Building codes continue to vary greatly from country to country, leading to concerns that most builders won't have the skills to live up to the new requirements. In addition, the E.U. mandate does not provide incentives to renovate existing buildings, which will continue their extravagant consumption of energy for decades.
But calls from environmentalists and insulation companies for subsidies to kick-start refurbishment programs are falling on deaf ears at a time when most European governments are cutting budgets to deal with bulging deficits.
You really think that most eu homes look like that NoD?

FYI Most of Europe was decimated, and completely rebuilt by 1950. Most of those "old" homes you see aren't old at all, that's just the style of buildings they made back then. Not everyone in Europe lives in a Stone masonry building. The majority live in modern homes just like you and I. The Europeans are much much more energy conscious than the USA is and use many more alternative energy sources than we do. We mostly burn Nat gas and coal to produce 75% of our power. While European Countries use more wind, solar, and nuclear power.

Qatar, Iceland and United Arab Emirates are the largest per capita users of energy, Even Canada uses more than the USA, USA comes in 10th. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_energy_consumption_per_capita

School break for a couple more days! Then you all will be rid of me for a bit.

But being 31 breaks are not as fun as when I was a kid, so until then i'm here bothering people.

NoD you win. I really do think the EU is doing a great job with advanced green tech and am all for it. Unlike some people I think getting off of fossil fuels to renewable resources that don't pollute is one of the most important things we can do as societies.

it was this douche that needed to understand that new buildings are not a bad thing:
Mann, respect the ppl who founded your country that u live on...but in your place that thing called respect is a part of gang life pr sum shit..go eat your macdonalds, and i will go and live my life as i have lived it so far, without water in our house and use my lou outside. TRY to live like that and maybe u can stop just a little the shit you are doing to this planet, fuck u america and fuck u china!

I think the best stimulus we could get? A solar array on every home, payed for and installed by Government. They would pay for themselves in 9 years and then you would see a huge difference in how this country runs. But Solar Panels don't win elections so you will never see it.

I 100% could not agree with you more NoD. That would be my dreams come true to see them do this, 100 million homes multiplied by about 8k a house (would think this would get lower too with economies of scale, would be about $800 billion too, fucking idiots. Toss in another $800b for businesses and we are at the stimulus they passed.

1.6 trillion divided by 330 million people over the next 30 years: $161 a year for each of us.

But most of them are on the oil, natural gas, and coal tit.

And don't see that getting all the people that are dedicated at working those areas could just be retrained into the new energy grid.

The majority live in modern homes just like you and I.
Minus closets, wtf is up with that?

Why? Because you somehow have the dumbass idea that because we build new buildings and do not have as many old ass ones as other countries we are what did you do, say fuck you to america and china. Well fuck man we have been at the forefront in almost every emerging tech, its not our fault that you guys suck and have fallen behind countries that were third world a few decades ago. Hell you guys even got a few thousand year head start and you still pissed it away.

And as many wars as we have been apart of, the unknowable amount of indians we have killed, and essentially stealing part of mexico, it is not half as suppressive as europe tried to be during the hundreds of years before we decided enough was enough and told you all to go fuck yourself.

True Story, Just stepped into Perth, Australia, first time in Oz. Pick up this chick in one of the many bars, she takes me home, im drunk shes drunk, we fuck. Gotta pee really bad, she is asleep. Lookin everywhere for the toilet. Finally I find this little closet with one of those old time toilets where the tank is up way high and i relieve myself. And I mean its a friggin closet, no sink just a shitter and a roll of TP, its actually half the size of the real closet. I told her about it that morning and how it was so odd to me, and of course to them its as normal as the sun coming up in the morning, they call it the WC, or Water Closet. For all those who were wondering, no, the toilet water does not go down spinning the opposite way in Australia, it goes the same way as the Northern hemisphere.

i still dont see how these global warming nuts say co2 is bad, co2 is a main food source for plants which would make the earth a "better" place. The denser the co2 levels in the atmoshpere, the denser the vegatation can grow. Plus man made carbon emisssions has nothing to do with it. When Mt StHelens blew it released more carbon and co2 than all of human existance, yea we are the cause?...
co2 is not bad when u have enough trees to turn that into 02. as our trees are getting cut down every single day, and we are leaving our carbon foot print ie cars, coal powered power stations, factory ect. the amount of tress that we do have are not coping with the increasing amounts of co2 that are warming our earth up.. hence the reason the ice caps are melting... and increases of different animal species are dying off in the first place. we are slowly poisoning us and destroying the planet.

so people believing that we are not killing our planet and this is all normal, to be honest are mad!

i learned this in infant school and this has stuck with me ever since

Make that the ice cap. The other side of the world is seeing unprecedented amounts of ice. Also, please consider your teachers may have been wrong.

First it was Global Cooling. Then Global Warming. Then Climate Change. Now people are adopting the phrase Climate Chaos!! How utterly rediculous. http://www.stopclimatechaos.ie/

Oh and when Al Gore was pressed to debate he loudly declined saying something like we've had enough debate and "The science is in." The Global Warming Nuts quickly adopted that slogan to deride detractors. The Scientific Method ALWAYS takes new information and examines it and either changes it's theory or discards the information. By definition Al Gore is not following science.

And while I'm here a funny anecdote: Al Gore was talking about some research that strongly promotes global warming. The next day the scientist made a public statement saying "I don't know how he (Al Gore) could come to that conclusion based on my research."

so cutting down the tress that convert co2 into 02 (air = oxygen) - that = carbon = heat= poison to then= no life that is ok?? that is a fact we need trees!

Climate change has always happens throughout over million of years ago twice i think?? naturally. not the stuff we keep on polluting into the air and cutting down trees along the way for... Naturally! the whole point of it all is that whether u see it or not we a slowly destroying and draining its resources because of greed. the government dont care as long as there lining there pockets up along the way. if you cant see the BIG picture then we have no hope.

there are ways to make transport run on water. steam! there are ways to crow nice big crops and ganja, without man mad fertilizer, growth hormones ect.. that kill the living soil and our natural defence systems.. Organic is the way! there are so many ways that the government, science and us as people can make this a greener place but they wont! because of MONEY! thats the big picture of it all anyways but we all new that already..

dont get me wrong tho we have started making little changes already and there will be another ice age coming round, maybe not our time or whenever it happens. maybe that will sort it all out, maybe not who knows??. lets hope the people that have there heads screwed already on will make the big difference. peace
