Glaucoma...are any eye docs in Maine recommending MMJ?

Hello,

I was recently diagnosed with glaucoma and am horrified at how expensive the prescription eye drops are. It also irritates my eyes and are turning my blue eyes brown. I would like to try mmj as an alternative treatment. Does anyone know of a cool eye doc who can work with me? I'm down south but will travel.

Thanks!

Ever try to call your own eye doctor to ask them about it? Just tell them you'd like to try it to see if it helps since it is a valid reason to have a MMJ recomendation from a doctor :) I don't know of any eye specific doctors...only Dr. Sulak

my eye doc is in portsmouth. I'll start looking for a new doc to the north. I'm self-medicating now but want to make it legit. thanks for the replies.

I have a friend whose wife is an office assistant with Maine-Eye Care 325 Kennedy Memorial Drive, in Waterville, ME ... She was telling me recently that their (5) Doctors were begiining to issue MMJ approval for certain items ( yours included :-) ) ... The only thing that she knew was that it all depends on the severity of the illness as a means of approval/rejection ... Perhaps a ride north would be in your cards after setting up an appointment with them.

Please keep us posted and good luck :-)

Thanks for the info. Back when I had cancer, I used a small amount of ditch weed given to me by a friend to treat sickness from radiation treatments. It worked better than a $1600 prescription of Zofran anti-nausea meds my doctor gave me. Let's hope I can now use some kind hydro to control my inter-occular pressure without the eye drops which cost $4 per drop.

I'll keep you posted!

Back in the late 70's, my 1st cousin suffered from cancer, and was deathly sick from the radation and chemo that was given to him at Dana Farber (Boston). Having been in his mid-20's when he was diagnosed, he rekindled the roach clip. This brought him greater relief than the costly "pharma meds" did. Somehow (since Jimmy and I were tight,I look at him as being a "Pioneer" in my world.

Best of Luck Kind, and please keep us posted. We do care !
