my 7 bands have IR and UV emmitter's
says in the packaging slip to wear protective eye wear or to turn off the light
i have cfl's i can turn on when im messing with the plants

dark safety glasses from a welding supply store work well
they are designed to protect from exposure to welding arc which puts out alot of bad wavelengths

I also bought the $15 lumii glasses. They work wonders for hps, but not sure how they would do with LEDs.

The dark green "welding" ones should protect your eyes, but not sure how the color will look.

P.S. The green ones are for using a torch/plasma cutter.
And to the dude saying his clear ones stop him from getting flashed, they may help a little, but I'll bet your more just used to looking away or covering your eyes from working around welders.

P.S.S. I'm a welder

Also if you buy the green burning ones, DO NOT drive with them. I made the mistake of thinking I had a free supply of sunglasses (work) and wore some home. You can see the green and yellow lights at an intersection, but you can't see the red or tail lights.

as a long time welder I can tell you for sure that you do NOT want to get your eyes burned by any source of light. FLASH SUCKS ASS DUDE! feels like you dropped a chunk of 60 grit sandpaper in your eyes for like 3 days. every single blink is excruciating.

if all it takes is a pair of 15 dollar shades to protect me from that I am IN buddy. and I am only rockin' a 400hps. I STILL wear shades when I have to look towards the bulb.

method7 and blackdog led glasses are $70, sigh

I bought lummi for $14 shipped, they work great for taking pictures and wearing under a hps.
I ain't paying no $79.
im gonna email lumii if i can find the main site and ask them to consider making them. Just got some lumis myself and it sucks the method sevens are so expensive.

Im gonna look for a light gel thats a similar color to them and see if i put it over some clear protective glasses if it will help correct the color.

No ,you only need glasses with min 1000w hid and usually vertical.
lol... I have to use shade 3 welding safety glasses in order to even see in my led tent. But they way the correct the color of your room just like the Led M7's do.

I got a pair of sunglasses for free, when I bought my BD-360U.
That thing is bright, and has UV bulbs, the glasses sit right by the door of my closet, and are used each time I open the door. I wouldn't think of doing anything in there without protection.
I would imagine any glasses with UV protection would be sufficient, though.

You don't think that's overkill? Big black welding glasses for an led? You would look like a blow fly buzzing around the grow room.

method 7 glasses are the best but are really expensive not sure what would be good the green glasses sound like they would work because the method 7 are green but i think they are Special lenses.

Your saying they do correct it Like Method 7 LED's do?

I just started growing, got a new LED, and first time ive spent some time in the room, and i have a serious headache, and eyes are all crazy this morning. So i really need to get something. The method 7's are a tad pricey, but there are some decent shade 3 glasses that are much nicer on the wallet, if they correct it the same as the 7's, i would definity buy a couple pairs. :)

Anyone who has had flash-burn from welding will testify. Like rubbing hot glass shards in your eyes. BTY the cant give you any meds and you gotta live with it for a few days and hope that it did no permanent damage. Protect your eyes it ain't no joke. I have lost a fair amount of sight and do everything possible to protect my eyes now that I am educated. I own a pair of method 7's they're great. $80 bucks may seem like a lot (price of a small bag o weed) but it's a small price to pay for your sight. Been blind once (retinal disease) for 2 weeks once, it's no fucking joke! You get 90+% of all your info from your eyes take care of those 2 eyeballs the best you can. You only got one pair treat them well! Take care of your peepers.

Corneal flash burns
The clear front of the eyes, called the cornea, can be damaged by over exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun and from other light sources, such as a welder’s arc or camera flash. LED too.

These injuries are called corneal flash burns or ultraviolet keratitis, and is like a form of sunburn to the surface of the eye.

Corneal flash burns can cause pain, changes in vision or loss of vision.

Corneal flash burns causes
Radiation damage to the cornea leading to a flash burn can be caused by ultraviolet light from various sources:
  • Sunlamp in tanning salon
  • Reflection of the sun off the snow at high elevation (snow blindness)
  • Photographer’s flood lamp
  • Lightning that strikes close to you
  • Halogen lamp
  • Welding torch
  • Direct sunlight
  • Solar eclipse
  • Reflection of sunlight off water
Corneal flash burns symptoms
Any time from three to 12 hours after overexposure to ultraviolet light, you may begin to notice symptoms:
  • Pain that can be mild to very severe :fire:
  • Bloodshot eyes
  • Light sensitivity
  • Excessive tearing (watery eyes)
  • Blurry vision
  • Sensation of a foreign body in the eye

On a similar note anyone know of a LED capable lens to use with a camera? I've been shooting thru my Method 7's but would like to get a fixed lens.
