Ghetto grow box - My first attempt

do what you want, but i wouldn't go pissin on your plant anytime soon (if ever).

Hi!Organic fertilisers are recommended over synthetic ones for the main reason that they are absorbed more progressively and it is unlikely to 'burn' any plant. Urine is widely recognised by experienced gardeners as one of the most efficient and easily absorbed products; dissolved at 1/5 or 1/8 it is odourless. I hope this comment helps Dyzel because in Nairobi there is very limited choice of fertilisers and none has the right formula for weed, thus once it will start growing and requiring more nutrients, it will be easy to affect the plant through excess or unbalanced fertilisation, especially during fast growth and flowering periods with weekly doses. Going organic is in Nairobi the only safe option. That's why for a moment I published Ed Rosenthal's table.

Hi Dyzel ,

Just a comment of what happened to me some time back. In Tanzania I grew a very bushy plant by topping the main steams several times, but rather soon when I put it outdoors it lost several branches that broke when the wind blew not even strong. This was so because any cannabis plant indoors does not develop much flexibility in the main trunk or secondary steams. It is definitively more rigid and fragile. In the absence of wind it is likely it could happen to you too if you do not provide it during growth some with a fan or similar.

When you eventually gather some experience/street wise abilities when it comes to growing, you most likely would have a fan circulating inside your grow area.
I do. It oscillates, and generates a wind, much heavier than what I have felt outdoors, seeing as the plants are so close to the source.

My stems are almost 3/4 inch thick, and branches too are well developed.

Wind shredding my plants to pieces is the last of my worries.

In fact, Just today, because of a power outage, I had my plants up on the roof, basking in the sunlight. No problems to note!

Power outages becoming more frequent means that my 12/12 day cycle MUST start at 4:30am, so even if the power does go, I can move my plants outdoors, and have them under great sunlight!
They go back into the dark by 4:30, while it is still broad daylight.

More often than not the plants are kept indoors, under the lights.
I know I had intended to have them outdoors for flowering, but have decided to keep them in a more accessible location, until they show sex.

Thanks for once again looking in.

still wouldn't piss on the plants. What isn't mentioned in this is that the urine used has to be almost clear with very little odor otherwise it is unhealthy for the plants. also it has to be used while its fresh and like he mentioned dilluted. anyways. Since you are growing a sativa plant i thought you would be interested in the fact that i chopped mine down and the wet weight was 230 grams. thats one plant

What up dyzel!? I just went through your whole journal and it seems we share a lot of the same methods. Your plants look awesome and healthy! I'm loving the look our lst plants have. I also have another sativa iv been flowering for almost 3 months, I'm hoping she'll be ready by next week. She still has a lot of white hairs so I'm holding out for a little longer. Keep up the good work bro!

Hey everyone! Thank you for the feedback.
First off, I would like to clarify, that I will NOT be pissing on my girls... I'll leave that shit to you kinky cultivators.
My plants are now on 12/12, but still show no sex. I am to believe, at this stage, Nitrates (urea) are less vital than phosphors.
I just flooded my soil with a fresh puree of mixed berries (cherries, grapes, lemon juice, strawberries, raspberries and black berries).
Molasses and water added to the mix, together with baby bio supplement for trace elements.

I used this to "water" the plants, just to see how it takes to the organic matter available (compost effect). The mixture was super red (all natural colour) so lets see if this is taken up visibly by the plants. Red bud could be interesting!

Else, I gave up on the pseudo ScrOG I was attempting.
I seemed to be hurting my plants, more than anything else.
I am planning to transplant this plant to a huge planter (6 gallons). I will then leave it on my roof to bask in the 12 - 13 hours of sunlight (11 hours of full blown light) and see how well things go.

For an experiences sake, I will be flowering the LST plant indoors, as long as it remains a manageable size!

Now to look for a planter!
I am trying to NOT spend any more cash just yet!

On a super bright side,
I just got a lovely update.
Your item, posted on 25/06/10 with reference XY1234567890WZ has been passed to the overseas postal service for delivery in KENYA.
That made my day!

You can check out a pictorial of My Attitude Order.

Hopefully I can get to growing those new plants soon!

Cheers guys! I will post some pictures soon.

Letitgrow, please link to your journal.

That looks like a pretty sweet harvest Brandon!
Good job. Can't wait to see the AK!

I hope my plant yields at least a similar amount!

Here are a few pictures from today.

Still no sex, I am not pissing on my plants.

Super bushy LST plant looks great!

The regular one not so brilliant. Will be transplanting and moving outdoors within the course of the day.

Cool! Grow looks good buddy!
Thank you for dropping in, Chainseeker.
I unfortunately still ain't got my order in hand. WORRIED!

Plants are doing ok.

The non LST one is now outdoors, growing under 16/8 for about one more month, before it naturally gets to 12/12.

Should be nice and large, I hope!

Will keep you guys updated soon ;)

Well, here we go with LST plant...

Looking good, green and bushy! This one has 12 tops, from various training to date. ll the larger branches have been trained to the outside of the pot, so the less developed, outer branches can grow straight up, and keep a nice even height with the rest of the grow.

Unfortunately, I can see this little ball like thing on some of the nodes  :wall: :finger: :dunce: :?:

I am guessing that this is a male pre-flower, but anyone wiser than I am on this matter may step in and make my day!

Take a look at the closeups of the node. You will notice on a couple of clips, that there is a nodule of sorts having formed.

The best zoomed in view I could get was with my camera, and thats what you guys are looking at below!
I hope the shots are clear enough to distinguish whether or not I have a problem here!

The second plant is yet to show any signs, vague or otherwise. I will post regarding plant 2 later this evening.

Just as I feared... So any use for a male plant? Should I wait it out and see what happens, or just cull him right now to save some cash on my next power bill?

well, where did you get the seeds for them? bagseed or what? since you only have 2 plants i would take the male out of the growroom, collect some pollen for later incase you would like to make your own seeds.(if you have a hard time getting hold of seeds might consider pollinating one branch on your female)
once you have the pollen you need you should kill him or practice some FIM,topping, lst and other abusing techniques for earning purposes :P

the pollen sacks looks to be quite developed tbh so i would not have the nerves to let it sit in with my only female plant hehe. when it sheds pollen it often just boom happens overnight

The other plant (the more neglected one, wouldn't you know it, is about 500feet away, on my rooftop. "She"? is vegging outdoors still... Will move the male out and bring the other one in so I can force flowering.

2 males would be horrid!

Anyway, the plants are both from some awesome bag seed. It is tough to get seeds in any other way around here!

I did though, order some stuff from attitude last week!
Tracker says it has reached Kenya, but that is as far as I know... No parcel yet!

You can see my selection here.

I went for some strains with shorter flowering times and varied effects/genetics. All are feminized, I believe, so that will be great!
May pollinate a branch of each of those plants and see what seeds I get.
I am pretty sure that the seeds I am currently growing now are landraces, and I would assume that they have stabilized genetics.

seeing as my order has worried the hell out of me, I would definitely say that it is worth having your own seed supply!
Now I just hope my beans get to me soon!

ah youre getting warlock, nice :) yea ive made an "order" myself through a friend in uk, he has gone and bought seeds for me. so now just trying to find out what adress to ship it :P

he bought me
Northern lights
critical mass
White widow
White rhino

also he claims he might be able to get me some hermie seeds from an Alaskan thunderfuck... but i wont belive that until i see it :P would be epic though

all regular seeds so i can breed my own stock. this ordering seeds stuff is making my head spin. too much risk for me.

Here we have the non sexed plant, and the male plant right by each other.
This is the last they will see of each other

The male will keep flowering on the rooftop... Beautiful plant!

The scraggly looking, shitty plant would be exhibit B, my unidentified plant (gender).

I tied it down, seeing as LST was giving much better results... Clearly!

This second plant will hopefully fill out, and be a girl!

Notice the node, No sex visible to me yet!

What do you guys think?

locate the top 3 nodes and check them real good. all my female preflowers appeared at the top 2 nodes first at age 3,5 weeks from seed.

no preflowers at all on your node closeup there

Yup, studied em sooo carefully. No preflowers on the one, and on the "male" I only found the two balls on sticks. Plucked them off, so I can keep em in flowering (with the other plant) to see if it becomes a hermie.
