ghb - this is how i grow

you mean your last run in hydro was actually the tastiest stuff you have grown? i do think that environment is more important than anything, i know of people who grow dank on a bottle of £1 tomato feed. keep the plants happy and they will always reward you with sweet sticky nugs of fire.

i am opting for the dutch bottled organics of biobizz, i know a lot of the uk lads use it to great effect, if i like the results i might go down the route of mixing my own soil as you did, just bigger pots lol! i'm gently easing myself into organics, try it on one garden and see.

i am a proponent of doing whatever it take to get the plant the shape you want it OM. some strains will not require any topping at all but i never found a strain that didn't require some sort of input to produce well, unless you are running sog on clones with a couple of weeks veg max that is.

if you re growing out heirloom sativas and you know they will at least triple in height i think lst is the best medicine, tie the dominant branches to the rim of the pot and it will give better results than super cropping imo. i supercrop as a last resort kind of thing, when i have flipped to flower and one branch just starts shooting for the sky, i'll literally snap it in half to slow it down, around a week later ( usually when other branches have caught up) it will be back upright and have a big fat knuckle where i bent it over.

supercrop bud porn : g 13 haze, it still give me a big fat top but allowed the other sides to still produce some chunky buds too

Crazy Foxtail's awesome job

thanks man, though i actually try to not let my girls foxtail so much these days. i used to like the way the buds looked it is pretty cool but i find foxtails are just adding more stem to the mix, and nobody likes stems :P

that grow i added a 400mh in between 2x 600w hps light in an 8x4 and it was just way too intense for them, they were foxtailing like 4 weeks in or something like that, just kept stacking calyxs on top of each other.

some strains have it in the genetics, they form nice round nugs then once they fully fill out they have no where to go so the natural reaction is to just spit out new growth in any direction possible. usually though i find high temps or even too intense a light can make the buds foxtail prematurely. so long as they don't start fox tailing before week 6 i'm a happy man.

I know what you mean about golf ball nugs. I said last grow I was looking for golf balls strung on the stem and seemed no one knew what I was getting at. Big colas are good for pictures but I would usually get rid of them and keep the nice medium sized stuff for me. Seems in the sweet spot like baby bears porridge. Just right.

This round is going along. My system is always a bit awkward for a time as I go from horizontal lighting over to vert. They are in the tubes and getting trained up. I'm pulling a ton of branches so I don't overgrown the closet again. I've never pulled too much.... Always not enough.... So this round may be a first for hacking them up too much. It's a bit sad as this is the last round in Cali. I hope it turns out so I have a good send off.

I'll put up a pic in my journal.

Yeah i have only really had them at the end of flower i am unsure if you know but i also use all canna i was thinking of doing a copy and paste of your feeding from veg to flower just to change things up a bit see if i can yield more

This run i have ran out of Boost and been a tight ass but will be buying some more for the next run
what i normal run is 2x 600 watts 4 plants two each light and pulling around 22-24 oz would like to up it to the 30s and keep the same plant count

atami bloombastic is pricey but if its good stuff ill give it ago how much would you use on a full run...

don't get the boost, try the bloombastic instea!. it actually works out cheaper based on application rates, you can actually see it working after just one feed. i've done grows using only bloombastic and a+b and was happy with the results. the bloombastic is £40 for a 325ml bottle and i apply at 0.5ml per l for around 3-4 weeks, i buy the 1.25l for £120 and it last well over a year.

the boost for me just allows the plants to have a higher e.c without suffering burn, it also imparts a slightly fruity smell and taste on the buds so whilst i do recommend using it i would choose the bloombastic all day before i choose the boost.

are you hitting 24 oz from the 8 plants? if so there is definately room for improvement but adding a new bottle of nutes is not going to do anything drastic, you may need to spend longer in veg or maybe do a bit more training on the ladies. are you multi straining or running a mono crop and harvesting all at the same time?

4 plants 24oz awesome ill order some now and see how it goes should i still use boost up till week 4... ?

This run i did one jack herer in a scrog and got 14oz off her from one 600 and added 2 more plants 4 weeks in to the flowering of the jack so i got like two 2 weeks left till the room is done the scrog boosted things big time

but what i normally would do is have 4 plants and veg for 30 days or till they reach around 20" then flip

if you are getting 24oz from a 600w i fail to see how you can do better unless you get a light mover or go vert.
25 oz per light is my all time record, and i thought it was too crowded in there, too many fluffy nugs.
i have experimented using boost as various rates and at different times, i find that it works best the earlier you add it, starting at like 2ml per l then build it up to 4ml at peak feeding time ( usually around week 5-6 for me) then i drop it completely once i start lowering the amount of a+b i give them.

think i'll be taking some pointers from you nerd lol

glad you like it papa, i'm sure you'll never look back. no more hauling heavy ass soil filled pots for starters lol

the cheese flowers are a really nice lavender colour, though you can't tell under the hps lighting. the blue pits are like rocks

It's going to be interesting to see what the blue pit gives you, those buds are so dense.
I'm more than a little impatient for BB to put them back in the lineup.

well you are not out of the woods yet, i have had coco containing insects before today!. that is another reason to re use the stuff, you know there won't be any bugs getting brought in to the garden.

i use tap water and have never had problems but obviously if your tap water isn't the best i would recommend using filtered or reverse osmosis. you may need to supplement with some form of cal/mag product.

have you bought all your nutes yet? if not i recommend the canna line, one feed for veg and flower and i have never had problems using it.

i'm not sure what the reason for delay is on the blue pit but i'm pretty sure once they come back in they will be back out of stock again lol a lot of people are anticipating them.
this particular cut is a strange one, i have never had it fully finish and i have taken it 77 days before, it just keeps stacking and pumping out new pistils. even chopped at 7 weeks it is very very good medicine, i'm thinking of chopping at around day 80 this time to see how potent it can be. the buds are getting very stoney, i think they will be purple come harvest too so added bag appeal.

I hope they have seeds by the kilo (lol) the purple variant sounds good.
I've grown Pineapple Ex that wouldn't finish, but 11.5 weeks is long.
The high should have a great bottom end.

even at 7 weeks it packs a punch, it will definately be stronger but the main difference for me is the amount of time the high lasts, when you are only smoking one or two joints a night you know it's good.

pretty much anything will turn purple in these temps we are having at the minute, this time last year the leaves were purple on this pheno but the buds were green, this year it is looking like it will be the other way round somehow. :P

My room runs about 75F lights on to 60F lights off but colder weather isn't far off.
I want to start some pw x og in 2 weeks they will have the benefit of the coolest
time in the room.

At this point I don't think I could smoke 1 joint a night, 6 mos. off and wow!
Last night I took 2 hits of my NL5 and it planted me for about 3.5 hrs. then sleep.
I had an old friend who would take 2 mos. twice a year for clean up now I know why.
I have always put more value in the duration not the initial liftoff of my smoke also.
