GH Ripen question

Hello all, I grow RDWC and intend to use GH Ripen for the last 10 days followed by a 3 day flush.
Growing "Delicious Eleven Roses" which seems to be a genuine 8.5 - 9 week finish after flip.

Intend doing a change out (apart from the inch or so in the bottom of the tubs) then feeding Ripen ONLY for 8 -10 days prior to a 3 day flush (does this sound about right?)

In the GH Europe guide for Ripen it says feed alone with NO other nutrients or additives, at 0.5ec (250 ppm) above normal flowering EC.

I would normally be feeding at 0.8 ec at this stage of flower (last few weeks before harvest) dropped from 1.2ec which is my normal ec when in full flower.

Should I be feeding at 1.3ec (0.8 + 0.5), or 1.7 (1.2 + 0.5), or should I just feed what it says on the bottle 0.4 - 0.5 ml per litre.

The change out I think sounds about right, there is no way to get all the water out. Good idea on giving them 3 days, maybe even 5-7 in the end with a flush, just to get the last nutes away as possible.

Cannot comment on the guide from GHE, since I ran mine with the same EC as before Ripen and flushing them a week afterwards with an EC of 0,75 clean water only ph adjusted...

Have a good day...

No not that much, plus it is an extra cost during the grow, but I would say if you havent tried it before I say give it a go, they you have a reference for te next grow...

Another useless gimmick to part growers from their cash imo.

I checked that stuff out online and it's just another nutrient blend that should have less P and more K with added sulfur for the best resin production. Can't find the label of ingredients at GH to see other than the NPK levels on the front o don't know what's all in it.

Won't hurt to use it but stuff like that is not needed to finish your plants so don't expect some sudden explosion of buds and trichomes unless your plants have been starving up to this point.

Like the OverDrive AN makes. Tried that with some plants and not others and there was no noticeable difference so never bought that again. Big Bud on the other hand is something I hate to grow without. Huge difference with that. 0-15-35 with 10% S, 20 amino acids with ascorbic and citric acids. I bought a 500g can of the powdered BB almost 3 years ago and that should last me another 3 or 4 years. The liquid goes bad in about a year unless kept in the fridge.

When I do DWC I'll take out half the nutes about 2 weeks before harvest and top up with RO with some Epsom Salts to add some S and Mg and maybe a couple powdered zinc tablets. Most DWC grows I never change the nutes at all from clone to finish. I just test ppm and add more nutes when needed to keep my ppm where I want it.

A week before flipping to flower I give them some extra nutes and half a dose of Big Bud to 'prime the pump' then the other half of the BB at the flip. Got really nice buds and lots of them by the end of stretch. Anyone says to wait until week 3 before giving bloom boosters has got it wrong. During he stretch the plants are setting up for budding and need the extra goodies at the start to do their best. Over 50 DWC grows since '01 I've tried damn near everything to see what happens and changing nutes weekly was never done. Especially in the first 5 or 6 weeks when the plants are just getting big there is no reason to change. Just add more nutes as the ppm goes down. If using hard water then you can't do that tho so I only use RO or distilled water even in soilless growing.

If I do a change it's after the stretch then I feed Lucas Formula style to lower the N levels a bit and use the BB until the end of week 5 since the flip. I count flowering time from the flip.

Good luck and good growing!

:peace:

never really heard of ripen.

i'm curious as to what "ripeners" it has in it. as far as plant stimulants?
from the label, it's hard to tell. it's definitely a PK booster.

what i did at the end of my last grow was GH flora bloom (0-5-4) and heavy epsom salt (2 grams/gal) for the Sulfur. it really brought out the smells of this strain

I think Ripen may be made for the European market only https://www.eurohydro.com/ripen.html

I will post the ingredients from the bottle later.

This is the instructions I found online, seems conflicting 1tsp/gal = 18.9 mL/gal:

  • Add 5 mL per gallon during the last two weeks prior to flush
  • Ripen LAST in your reservoir to ensure maximum solubility
  • During the second to last week of fertilization, add 5 ml per 3.79 L (1 tsp/gal) in addition to your regular feeding program.
  • During the FINAL WEEK of fertilization, use ONLY Ripen at a rate of 5 mL per gallon. It is specifically designed to be staged in this manner and to be used as a stand-alone supplement

I would normally be feeding 0,8 ec in final week. They recommend 0.5 ec on top of normal ec so will feed at 1.3ec (0.8 + 0.5)

Will do a changeout and feed ripen only @1.3ec for 7-10 days then another changeout and 3 day flush with plain water.

I think the NPK for the US formula may be slightly different from the European, probably due to regulations.

This is the European guide https://www.eurohydro.com/ghe-quick-guide-ripen

I have a commercial grow and I use ripen. My plants look totally sick (in the best way)!! Absolutely a must have if you make money on trees. If you don’t make money and you use ripen, you will be making money with your sick bugs. Don’t buy the bs. That guy In previous post said he used big bud which is foxfarm. Admirable effort and a solid product, but general hydroponics is the best bang for your buck. I’ve used it all...jacks, advanced, techniflora, Cana, And the list goes on. People who grow fire weed know to use gh for the quality and price

GH is monsanto crap! AN or now MegaCrop for the kill shot. Big Bud kicks ass for quality buds but Greenleaf/MegaCrop makes a Big Bud clone that looks really good.

Keep giving the Chinese your money for GH if you want but I say fug that!
