Getting computer fans hooked upto mains socket?

I want to get a fan like this:

hooked upto my mains socket. I live in the UK so its 230V.

I know I'm going to have to use an adapter, but I'm having trouble finding a 12V one. I was wondering if a mobile charger that is 5V DC and 0.7A output will power the fan? Will it just make it spin slower or will it not spin at all?

what kind of options do I have for getting computer fans to mains socket? Or is there any decent alternative to a computer fan? I want something relatively silent.

thanks

I ran an experiment using my fans with a 5V DC and I believe it didn't even work, so find a 12V phone charger on Ebay or something. As far as alternatives go, computer fans are the weakest fans you will be able to buy, but they are pretty quiet.

Shouldn't be hard to find a "wall wart" that will output 12V. You probably have them all over your home. My external hard drive has one, so does my modem, and the xbox. Those are just the things right in front of me. You can easily find one online or in an electronics store, but probably even more easily just laying around in your house from something you don't use any more. Just read the adapters and check the output. The computer fans take so little current, you don't need to even worry about that.

dont catch ur house on fire bro. just buy a fan from anywhere and put it in. one thats already wired..... keep ur fire entinguisher handy
