Getting a card is a joke.

I am currently trying to get my card though a place in the Portland area, Mamas. I fell as though they have so many people trying to get cards it has turned into a joke. Some if not most of these clinics thrive on getting you in the door and the times for even seeing a Dr. is a joke. I have had my records turned in to the place and they never even called me, I had to call them to find out the hold up and was told that they needed more info. When I asked why no one had called me to tell me their reply was they were just busy. Then to find out that every time that I have something sent in that they request, they put me back at the bottom of the list. I have seen people get their cards the same day. I am going to try the THC foundation. A friend of mine who got his card there said they are fast and easy to work with. Does anyone have any experience with them? Any help is greatly appreciated. Phillip

I can tell you that Pauline at MAMA's is a VERY busy person. As far as I am concerned, they have gotten their job done, when the patient gets their paperwork in order. This description does not sound like the norm around there. I wish you good luck, but I hope you have the sense that you will have to do some legwork to get them the right paperwork.

Having had to call them to remind them that my faxes are there is a joke. Being put back on the bottom of the list is a joke also when they are the ones that want more info. I will be honest, out of every time I do call. I usually pray that I do get Pauline, she has been very helpful. It just sucks to be in pain and every time I get told they need more info. I have been broke my whole life so to be able to see a Dr is something I am not able to afford. I usually have to wait till the pain gets unbearable then head to the ER, only to be told there is nothing they can do unless I decide to have my heart opened up and either fixed or replaced. Neither is an option that I am willing to do with the chances of living at best at 13% from the specialist from the Cleveland clinic.I have been so against drugs my whole life till a friend gave me an edible without telling me what it was. Yes I know what he did was wrong, but This is the only reason why I would even try for a card. I can honestly say that I had the best sleep I have had in nearly 3 years.

I do not claim the process is the best in the world......this would all be a lot easier if marijuana was just legal, right? I can tell you this......Bring your medical records BY HAND, and show your face around there. They really DO care about patients.....Take my word for it.....stop faxing stuff to them (hoping it got there) and bring it to them in person. You will find that if you make the effort, they will also.

I am not saying that your faxes being lost is OK, I am merely reminding folks that faxing medical records, you can only guess at whether they recieved the exact records you requested. Bring them by hand, and if that does not work, I would say you need more proof of your ailment.

I have 2 appointments a year. I have no insurance. I make sure my paperwork is in order.

Glad to hear that about THCF. I am sure they do a good job. I have always gone through MAMA, and I have never had a problem, faxed or not.

I think if you did have a problem at MAMA's, you should let them know, so they can address the issue. The reason I still donate meds down there is that they have taken such good care of me, and the other folks I have talked to down there.

I always like to see reliable folks in the marijuana industry. We definitely want to escape some of the assumptions about pot users.

From my perspective in Scandinavia, I know almost nothing about legal-for-medical-use (in some states).

Still, I can't escape the feeling that the medical card has been played too hard, and now we're starting to get blowback instead of further legalization for everyone. I hope we focus more on recreational use, and legal use of the plant as we wish - without needing any joke-cards (or "stasi-cards").

But I salute you, you've come a long way, which might be a reason I'm wrong about the blowback.
Where I live even seeds are illegal, and the only way for a complete legal status for all usages of the cannabis plant, for all our citizens, is that it happens in the rest of the world first - especially the USA.

Move to cali. MMJ dispense next door to the doc office & takes you 10min. <3
yeah in denver the doctor i went to was connected to my dispensary and then connected to my grow store it was a one stop shop and if you didnt like the meds there you could always just walk half a block to one of the other dispensaries of the 300000000 in the town

If you had it so good before, why the heck are you here in Oregon? I love good hearted folks moving to Oregon for the right reasons, but, please, do not move here for pot. Move here because you like what we have going here.

If you are really looking for a grower, you should get your card first, and then go to a card holders social. You are seeing one of the HUGE, gaping holes in the OMMP right now.......you may be able to qualify for a card, but how do you legally get your meds without a grower?

Would you give your address, name, birthdate, etc out to a stranger? Not me.....this is one of the many reasons Oregon needs to just legalize pot already.... and if not legalize, at least give patients safe access to safe meds, so they can walk into a dispensary and buy what they need, at least.

As it sits right now, any grower that is worth a darn is thinking,"Do I want this guy or girl to have my address and personal information? And will I, by giving out this information, endanger my current patients, and endanger their access to their meds at the same time? I am thinking I will not do that."

If you are from California, and have your card there, then your best bet is to obtain your card here, and not worry about getting a grower. You can get both cards in Cali and Oregon, and legally buy your meds in Cali. Then, just bring your meds up with you when you come up here......Done and done.

yeah i actually moved here because a friend had a place to live and needed a roommate or was going to have to move so i came out here and coincidentally found out that its awesome i have from my house here almost the same view as back home of mountains just now they are different mountains and further away plus the people here have mostly been super nice and cool as shit. not to mention all the great beer and breweries in the area. oh yeah and pauline definitely works her ass off i was just in there yesterday and she took at least more than five calls while i was just filling out some paperwork... why would i move from Denver to portland for pot personally (no offensive) from what ive seen here denver has much better bud and things like earwax and peanut butter and keif cola and just plain old pot restaurants where you have to have your red card to even go to them. i miss it but the atmosphere here and whole general vibe is wayyyy better here but there seem to be way more hipsters

i came the opposite way, from PacNW to Denver (for work, not pot. my opinion at the time was that we had better anyways, lol). each has it's own uniqueness and greatness. CO has the advantage of deep intergration of the MMJ scene, the only other like it is Cali., the other states have a lot of catchup on alternative products (medibles/tinc/oils/waxes/etc). other states are still getting f'ed with hard by the feds too. all a bunch of BS anyways.

Capt, when spring rolls through, take a few days and roadtrip down the coast for a blessed experience. make many stop and walks. if you search the cliff rubble in some areas you can find some some real treasures too :)
