Silly Rabbit, you need to really think about what you are saying. "it changed nothing in oregon and it wont change any thing in oregon" If you had read it, and I will post the first paragraph (More than three dozen Washington state lawmakers sent a letter to the federal government on Monday, asking for marijuana to be reclassified as a drug that can be prescribed by doctors and filled by pharmacists.) You would not have typed this "it wont really matter if it passes as the fed over power state law" As this is what they are trying to do. Damm kids on the internet these days. Geeez :)

[h=1]42 Wash. lawmakers ask DEA to reclassify marijuana[/h]By Associated Press Published: Jan 30, 2012 at 9:45 AM PST Last Updated: Jan 30, 2012 at 4:10 PM PST

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - More than three dozen Washington state lawmakers sent a letter to the federal government on Monday, asking for marijuana to be reclassified as a drug that can be prescribed by doctors and filled by pharmacists.

Reclassifying marijuana as a Schedule II drug would allow it to be prescribed by doctors and handled by pharmacists. Marijuana is currently classified a Schedule 1 drug, meaning it's not accepted for medical treatment and can't be prescribed, administered or dispensed.

In the letter to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the lawmakers said they supported Gov. Chris Gregoire's previous request on the issue. Seven Republican lawmakers were among the 42 in both the House and the Senate who signed the letter.

In addition to the letter, Sen. Jeanne Kohl-Welles, D-Seattle, introduced Senate Joint Memorial 8017 making the same request to reclassify medical marijuana. The joint memorial was scheduled for a hearing in the Health & Long Term Care Committee on Thursday.

Gregoire and Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee filed the petition with the DEA last November. Washington and Rhode Island are two of 16 states and the District of Columbia that have laws allowing the medical use of marijuana.

Washington voters approved a medical marijuana law in 1998 that gives doctors the right to recommend - but not prescribe - marijuana for people suffering from cancer and other conditions that cause "intractable pain."

Last year, Gregoire vetoed most of a bill that made major reforms to the state's medical marijuana law, saying state workers could be prosecuted under federal law the way the measure was written.

A separate bill this year is attempting to provide medical marijuana patients with easier access to the drug. The new proposal would allow local governments to regulate nonprofit patient cooperatives, which could grow up to 99 plants.

Under the latest proposal, nonprofit patient cooperatives would be prohibited in counties with fewer than 200,000 residents - mostly rural areas - unless local jurisdictions enact ordinances allowing them. The cooperatives would be allowed in counties with a population of more than 200,000 unless local jurisdictions opt out through an ordinance.

The plan would create a voluntary registry for patients.

it doesnt say weather or not it is for state or feds. it is most likely for the state, oregon had to go through the feds just like this to get it re scheduled for the state.

and sorry for my mistake about saying oregon twice in my sentence big deal.

if it were for the whole US then each state should and would send them letters.

i guess we will watch and see

Mygirls, I am beginning to think you are ignoring writing on the wall......literally! You posted the text (which already had a link to get to this article) of the article, AND IN THE FIRST SENTENCE IT TELLS YOU THEY ARE PETITIONING THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO CHANGE IT TO SCHEDULE 2!!! Honestly, man......I cannot believe how many arguments you keep going by inability to read what is in front of you.

This shit is getting old. Please check yourself, before you wreck yourself.

Again, please read the VERY FIRST SENTENCE, and then read the rest of the article. VERY CLEAR to anyone who actually reads it......Washington State legislators are petitioning the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT to change their stance on medical marijuana! This is an attempt, by Washington legislators, to make marijuana Schedule 2, so that the Feds can no longer fuck with our medical gardens.

Please, guys......this is what I am talking about.....mygirls and mcpurple always arguing with us over something which is quite clear to everyone else. Now, if you want to debate this any longer, please come back with a link..... a link which does not clearly say they are petitioning the federal government. I am so amazed by the fact that we have to have these discussions. Rather disgusted right now.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? It was the Oregon Board of Pharmacy that voted to reschedule cannabis in Oregon.

Click on this link and see for yourself.

Here is information from them about cannabis. Please stop talking/typing if you do not know what you are talking/typing about! PLEASE! :wall:

Yes, you are wrong, again. I am going to explain it to you is you just read very slowly.

Below in bold font is the first line from your post. It does say Olympia, Wash. but this is where the story is coming from. AP means Associated Press. Then the first sentence explains that Washington lawmakers sent a letter to the federal government...
"OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - More than three dozen Washington state lawmakers sent a letter to the federal government on Monday, asking for marijuana to be reclassified as a drug that can be prescribed by doctors and filled by pharmacists."

I guess we should be asking ourselves,"Why would Washington state lawmakers be sending a letter to themselves?" They wouldn't.

Dude, this shit is funny!!!!!

Why the fuck would state legislators send a letter to themselves? *edit* boxoran, I didn't read your last line *edit*

Olympia, WA (AP)
This is in regards to the place they reported from and the AP means Associated Press.... dummy.

Use common sense before you start spewing worthless shit all over.

That's my rant.... mygirls, check your spelling dude, it's basic stuff.

well i guess we will see when and if it passes.
But will you believe us when we provide a link showing that it passed? And even if it does not get it off Schedule 1, this is a step in the right direction, raising awareness at the very least. We just had to have a few people read the article 10 times in order to raise their awareness......lol

Fuck the article, I gotta see where this thread goes..... Oh and geeky mike, who the fuck cares about spelling.
You managed to spell correctly while posting here....why is it too much to ask in this age of technology for someone to use spell check?

Mygirls has been told this by just about every literate person in the Oregon section, so nothing new here. Maybe he might want to put forth a little spell check effort? Just saying, it is not a hard thing to do. Especially as a moderator and representative of this site.
