Heyyyyyyyyyyy guyyys. Let me just start off by saying I'm a BEGINNER. I'm a complete "Noob". I've seen beginner's on here getting roasted for asking stupid questions. Well, get ready for another lol

I recently acquired a bunch of seeds from seedsman. I got all the seeds as promised. I got a freebie, which was labeled as "Feminized, Auto Speed Bud". Since I'm a beginner I decided to focus on just one plant, that way I can get a better understanding before starting the OG Kush seed I currently have. Anyway, I got one of the two Auto seeds, and placed the seed in a cup of distilled water. In a dark, warm place. The seed has been sitting in there for about 9 days now. Day 4, is when the seed shell cracked side ways. You can see the white root in the shell, but there's no taproot. It's stayed that way for days now.. I replaced the water every night, daily. Warm, not hot water. :roll:20170414_135942.jpg 20170414_140457.jpg 20170414_135942.jpg 20170414_140457.jpg 20170414_135942.jpg I've read on some blogs, that it's not worth planting seeds that don't have a good taproot, then there's other blogs saying the best thing to do when they're just cracked with no taproot, would be to just plant in soil and observe it for a few days. But I've also seen a few people saying it means it's a dud and should be thrown away. The mixed information is overwhelming >:( Can someone please help a girl out? I'm going crazy here. What should I do!?:wall:

You left it in water for 9 days, you drowned it. Germinating seeds need oxygen and you did not suppply any. Just put your seed in some damp soil next time and let them do what they've done for ages with no help from humans. The only time I would soak a seed is if it is really old. Absolutely no need on fresh seeds that have matured enough for sowing.

Not trying to roast you, just grab another seed and try again, no biggie.

if you realy want to look see wots going on with your germinating seeds, try kitchen/toilet paper and place seeds in a small folded piece keep moist and w8 for the seeds to germinate. you will see the tap rootpop out and grow in search of nutrients and water, but this will cause stunted growth in the plant from the seed but will give you a chance to see the tap root you seek. but you have sound advice from Bugeye above concerning germinating seeds in the time honoured tradition Rudi :bigjoint:

Try one in moist paper towel next time... Water the paper towel every night and pour off the excess. Most seeds pop in 3-4 days. (At 70-75 Fahrenheit) Use a seed starting mat if you can't keep the temperature around 70. Best to plant in soil as soon as you see the tap root so it doesn't dry out. Best of luck!

I have always had issues with low germ rates, old and cracked seeds from them. The upside with Seedsman are the freebies & large selection.

hey, ok, as a noob to another noob iv been doing this now for let's say just less then a year , now iv done three plants that each one I keep getting better and the plant is stronger and bigger as far as seed germination iv never had a problem with ever germinating a seed( I use the tuber ware with lots of moist papper towel at the bottom and placing the seeds on it and one moist papper towel on top and covering it with the lid but poke holes in the lid and in 3 to 4 days boom germination!) I said iv grown 3 seeds but iv germinated 8. three I tried transplanting out doors but they were way to small and died:( and I'm just planted two more in my tent . I too got some free bees and I bought auto dark purple feminized seeds 5 of them and got 5 auto AK feminized. first attempt after germination super fail root rot over watered blah blah blah second time I realized my pot had crappy drainage ( I used a plastic pot with hardly no holes and I stated nuits ro late ( I use fox farm trio ) and at harvest i got one big joint. third time, bought a nice 7 gallon cloth pot for nice drainage and started nuits by second week, so all good! but slow growth again , I realized that my light sucked ! I bought a mars 600 mabe halve way into to veg period now well into flowering( since I run a 20 to 4 light schedule because there autos, )it's budding up big, not as tall as I would like but I think it's because of the crappy light I started with and I also planted 2 more auto AK In 5 gallon pots and there week 1.5 since they broke soil ( I'll include pics) I guess what I'm trying to say is just get what you need off the bat and don't waist your time so you can have a happy harvest do your homework and smoke some great bud ! feel free to ask me anything It would be fun mabe I fucked it up allready lol
