Germination fail?

Howdy all,

Second attempt here at growing outdoor in pots and I seem to have fallen over at the first hurdle.

I tried to germinate in jiffy pods, and put them in two weeks ago in a makeshift greenhouse (egg carton, cling wrap) keeping them heated by sun on windowsill, spritzing a few times a day. Worked last time no issues.

14 days later nothing sprouted. I opened one pod up to see what happened and it was very short and stunted (photo attached).

have I somehow / likely killed the whole batch during germination? Any recommendations to try and save?

thanks!

Try doing a little less. Seeds like it simple. 48 hours in a cup of water on a heating pad. Place them somewhere dark. Or maybe you got bad seeds

I agree once they fail they are done, But put that seed back in the soil and wait, it looks like it’s trying. Worst that can happen is nothing. Might be a slow strain. Water only when the soil get dry on top

Hard to say. Dig the seeds out and see if they are opened. If they are they are done. If not put them in some small plastic cups about 1/4 of an inch from the top. Get a squirt bottle and wet the top of the soil well. Cover each cup with a plastic sandwich bag if you live where the air is dry. Place out of the direct sun. Water them once a day with the squirt bottle...just enough so the top of the soil is wet. Don't baby them.

Thanks all! I’ll give it a go in cups with new soil and see if I can salvage. Two weren’t opened and the other three had the tails. The one that was the longest had the white tail at the bottom then it went black. Weird.
Thanks again!
