Germinating under CFL Help

Hello,

I’ve been having trouble germinating my last few seeds. I started with two feminized Lemon Kush seeds and I germinated them using the shot glass method with distilled water. About 24 hours of being in the water the seeds sunk and couple hours later a reticle appeared on both seeds. I didn’t have the opportunity to move the seeds into soil until about a day later. Once I had the opportunity to move them I moved them into solo cups filled with fox farm ocean forest and planted about ¼ inch down and watered thoroughly with distilled water. I put them under four 6500 K CFLs for about 5 days and nothing happened. So I went to my local hardware store and bought a grow light that ive had previous luck germinating with and started using that. After I bought the new light I regerminated another lemon kush seed and waited for the taproot to appear. After the taproot appeared I put it into another solo cup with 3/4 fox farm ocean forest and ¼ perlite and watered with distilled water. So all in all I have three feminized lemon kush seeds under a 75 w hardware store grow light with a light reflector around it. Temperatures are between 79 and 84 with the humidity being between 18 and 34%. Any help is much appreciated because I hate to be wasting these high quality feminized seeds on some dumb mistake im not aware im making.

Have you considered the paper towel method? I put them on top of my fridge where it's about 85° and a day or two later have a sizeable tap root, and transplant them at that point.

Why distilled water? I used distilled when i started and found that the PH of distilled was way off from what the plant wanted, and as a side note, no additional trace elements that are good to have in your water. Just curious if maybe you're using distilled for a specific reason.

Sounds to me like you're not doing anything "wrong" though I'm not an expert.

Hello,
Im using distilled because apparently its ph neutral and has no elements like chloride left in the water. Although people say that as soon as you open the distilled water gallon the ph changes as soon as it hits air. But who knows. They also say distilled helps with photosynthesis because the water is deionized and its helps transport the starches from the roots up the main stem into the branches

Just do the towel method ;)..I wait for the seedling to come completely out of the shell. It works every time. Then put in the soil with just the baby leaves above the soil. With cfls the more the better. If you can..go buy some seedy shit weed and experiment with different geminating methods.I promise, the paper towel method is the best way in my experience.Good luck!

Yes, distilled should be ph neutral, but depending on your source it may not be. I haven't seen any evidence that my tap water (after adjusting ph to 6.5) has Any negative effects on the plant. The plants can use a small amount of chlorine, and i believe can even show signs of a deficiency off they don't get any. If you really like using distilled, i say go for it, but my opinion is that there are too many reasons to just use tap, and just my novice opinion, id rather have the trace elements in my water going into the plant.

Unless you're specifically buying deionized distilled (I've never heard of), its not deionized. Fun fact, deionized water can be more pure than distilled.

Just poke a 1/4-1/2 inch hole in the dirt and drop it in. Make sure sure is moist like a wrung out sponge, not wet or soaked. then just leave it, it'll pop out to n 3-4 days all by its self.

Seeds have been germing for a long time without human intervention, pretty sure they know how to pop open with distilled water and all that stuff...
