Hello guys

Place the paper towel between 2 plates and sit the plates on top of something warm ( i usually place mine on top of my fridge or modem, heat from both keeps the plates warmer.

Keep paper towel moist, not soaked but moist .

60-70f is probably a little on the colder side for seed popping, i would try a warmer place to put them.

edit: some seeds just dont wanna pop too, some growers will resort to cracking them manually after a few days and no activity.

Throw them in a cup of water for 24 hours before you paper towel them. A good soak seems to help.

Also, cheap napkins work better than paper towels for step #2. Paper towels are fibrous and the roots very quickly grab hold of the fibers and can easily be damaged if you yank them off.

That's what I do and it works great every time

Thank you very much guys :) I added 2 more seeds I think I will take them off and soak for 24 hours then put in paper towel but can I also soak the one that was in paper towel for 3 days or too late for that one ?

The other benefit of soaking them is the viable ones will float.
If you get any sinkers they’re likely compromised.

I take mine from the cup after they sink (usually 18-36 hours) then place them directly in very wet peat pellets then into a hydrodome under lights. So far im 14/14 for germination sucess.

i put one in pot now I hope she grow she was in paper towel for 3 days I live in dry area the rh sometimes drop to 30% I afraid that the shell will get too hard and won’t crack I’m not sure I try to do by the book to be safe :)

Theyre suppose to sink once the outershell of the seed breaks. Its if they sink instantly they are compromised.
This does not meet with my experience. Not only that...I've been growing since 1975 and never heard that. I believe you are wrong.

I recently soaked 11 seeds. Half sunk right away...the rest were on the bottom next morning. All 11 germed nicely.

this is the correct standard hort pratice at least back east

soak in water until they sink

then to your damp napkin

I germ 100's of time per year

so use a dark colored napkin so you can see the 'tail' emerge with ease

good luck

Sorry Asshat, let me rephrase for you, can't really please everyone on this site.when stating compromised it simply means that there is a likelihood the seed is not viable it does not mean that its entirely useless. This is true for all seeds cannabis, fruit, tree etc. compromised seeds can have less food in them, struggle to sprout, or be perfectly fucking fine eh.
Just a note for others here in the newbie section. Don't follow this guys advice on seeds and probably on everything..
