Germinated seeds transferred to soil and failed

Pretty much what the title says. I tried germinating some seeds. I used the shot glass method, and 2/3 popped within 24 hours, the third failed entirely. I waited for the tails to emerge, then planted them into soil, where they failed. I waited for several days and no seedling emerged. I dug up one to look. It looks like it never grew past the point I put it into the soil. Where did I do wrong?

How much did you water after you planted them? I use a water bottle for seedlings so I can mist them and not take any chances in overwatering. Works for me. I use the same method you do. Sometimes seeds might sit in the shot glass for 48 hrs but no more than that. Then straight to soil. I've had a couple not come up and usually just toss all soil right back into my bag. Sometimes seeds just wont pop. You can try scuffing/cracking them before hand if you are worried about a certain strain.

Thanks all. I sowed another seed straight into soil. We'll chalk it up to a costly lesson for a noob.

I watered like I do most of my (non cannabis) plants, little bits of water at a time until I saw some drainage from the bottom of the pot. I didn't think I overwatered them, but it certainly is possible. I'll stick to misting for the next try.

I once did this and the seed had a taproot, I think the soil hadntoo much nutes in not sure, but I have taken what above has said, nature doesn't drop a seed in water and then put it in tissue then put it in the soil does it.

Soak your soil first, plant seedling half an inch deep, lightly cover with soil (dont pack), then use a shot glass or clear cup as a dome until it sprouts.

You probably put the taproot too far down or upside down, if you dont put the taproot curve on top it can run out of energy before it breaks the soil
