Genetic Hinderance

I have noticed one common trait on most of the plants that I have grown from seed. This trait is that one of the branches on the plant's first/lowest node is always stunted. It may grow three inches while the branch opposite from it may get massive. I have always just plucked this branch during defoliation and trashed it but it has occurred to me that many growers probably have cloned this branch. Is it possible that for some odd reason there is a localized genetic flaw/abnormality in this one single branch that if cloned and breed may cause some unwanted genetics floating around such as loss of vigor, prone to herm, or loss of potency. Have any other growers noticed this weak, lower branch trait also?
