Need a little bit of help and knowledge here ... I am planning on flipping the (4) NLB's on the 18th of December. That would be on Day 46 from Clone. I am planning on making a scrog (There is a thread on RIU called Deacon's Scrog) and using his idea on making my own. I have everything planned concerning the outline or frame, but am having some questions to the proper height.

The (4) NLB's will be under a 400 watt HPS bulb and I have a Cool 6 Reflector from HTG - Supply. The (4) plants will be transplanted on the 18th from their Folger container, into a 5 gallon smart pot with saucer lining underneath. I plan on using enough soil to sit each plant, and the height should be around 8-9 inches of soil. I only want the girls to attain somewhere in the area of 36 inches in growth, and therefore each leg of the scrog should measure out to roughly 48 inches.

So ... Is my calculations correct as far as the length of the legs? Are there any techniques as to (weaving) or (tying down) that are better?

... We just completed the round-out of a DIY Cloner using 3/4 inch PVC. The tote measures on the outside 21.0 inches X 18.5 inches. The Top has 15 count 2 inch net pots. The res when full will hold appx 16 gallons of water. How big of a water pump should I be looking at? Also how many sprayers would be adequate for that amount of space? Your help is appreciated

tough sayin not knowin.. but as many jets as you can, really i you have enough o2 you can't over spray them and as small of a pump as you can get away with, the reason being that the bigger the pump the more heat it'll throw off and you want your cloner water to be at 60ish (in my opinion anyways).

Need a little bit of more help ... It seems that the girls in my DIY Cloner are struggling just a tad. To me, they look kind of droopy and not really "perky" as I had envisioned. I have them as close as I can get them with the following light; SunSystem 21 SunBlaze T5 Strip Light High Output Fluorescent Fixture. It included 1- T5 HO 6500K "Blue Lamp", and states that it puts out 2000 Lumens. The water ph is 6.2 and 64.0 F. Humidity is at 27% at best (Planning on correcting that this morning with something). I am wondering if I change the unit out, and place the 150 watt back up, and keeping the girls as far away from the strong lamp, if this will help them out, or just the opposite. (I wish I could post a pic, but the battery is being charged at this time). Any help or suggestions are always well received.

keep light at a distance, they don't need it now. as a matter of fact, they push out roots in this stage to counter the lack of nutrients.. keep the lights to a min. ph is a little high but not what i would think the problem is. if this is 24- hours after cut that can be normal. water temps seem fine, some people go higher, i don't..
just throwing out ideas, good luck.

Is it the NYC that looks droopy?

I was wondering when you put them in the cloner how they would fare. I had just put them in dirt the night before for lack of a better way to cover any roots sticking out of the peat pellets. So washing the dirt off would have been easy. However if your cloner is spraying 24/7 it would probably keep the peat pellet to wet at first until it had sufficient roots. (So if it is these ones they may just be over watered.)
You could ether try putting it on a timer. (not sure how that would work with the other clones though) Or you could put those 2 in small pots of hydroton and lightly hand water until they form a more vigorous appetite. I use those peat pellets only cause they store easily, are cheap and the netting seems to hold everything together enough so it doesn't effect my hydro system. I'm definitely going to have to do things different when I get my flood table setup.

They all looked droopy when I wrote that this morning, but now they are all back to being their "perky" self's I guess it was just a "Blip" that they had to endure ... sort of like a "shock treatment" ... I sang them a lullabye and they all clapped, so I guess I am ..."Back on The Road Again ...."

By the way the cloner looks great. As you where building the first model I tried to reply about using a bucket instead. (in the post above) But it was during the hole site (RIU) issues a week or so ago. After writing a nicely compiled post about how many misters for how much gph and using a bucket. Only to loose the hole thing due to the site going down and not thinking to copy before I posted it. Seems you got it sorted though and it looks mighty fine ! Great job man !

Thanks MyWhat !! I know that this site being up and down wreaked havoc for me .... I think I had to smoke double from what I normally do because of it being up and down like a yo-yo !!

The Bucket Cloner is working great, but we had to make a makeshift teepee on top of it, due to a 10 inch plastic cake cover just does not fit right. That idea, with some tweaks here and there, came from a fellow Mainer BlueJeans, who also posts on here. Between us Mainer's, I think we could do a lot of good damage in rebuilding this Country.

Just a little diddy about yesterday. For the life of me, I could not get a Dual Timer to function properly. When I saw this thing, and that it was "Made In China" I guess that should have answered my question to as why. Since I had purchased some "slightly used" equipment last August, and this was part of the deal, there were no instructions on how to set it. By the way, all of the "Slightly Used Equipment" that I purchased is working great with no issues. So I guess I was quite lucky on that aspect from what I have seen posted on a few sites about purchasing used.

The only thing that I could see to get some direction for setting this was: FD60-U6(A). Wow. But it's all I could see that would lead me to where I needed to be. So without hesitation I keyed that under Google. Lo and behold, there were the directions that I needed. After several attempts, yes the directions were sort of like foreign to me, being not electrically inclined, it worked. No more getting up in the middle of the night to turn on the lights and fan!

The reason for this, no matter what information that one needs to obtain, whether for this or that, it is out there at the ready. One just needs to put in a few items in the search bar and there it is. It is a great tool that we have developed over the years, with a lot of people who have tweeked it here and there. I have used this "Tool" called the computer and all of the vast knowledge that is now at my fingertips, and have saved me countless hours at the local library.

The sad part is, I now miss the familiar faces that I do not see at the library, for they are now like so many others ... A thing of the past.

IHey there everyone.. I thought this was as good of a place as any to post a little gem that have been blessed with.. I hope she is a girl... this seed sprouted on Christmas day . so today it is 19 days old. I pulled it out of a collection of seeds that I had saved from past grows.So give me your opinions of this lovely little plant if you'd like. It's about three inches tall. five nodes, and four branches . three of which have two nodes. The last photo was taken on the 9th. The seedling on the 25th of dec. and the others were yesterday afternoon.

I am totally amazed (no matter what it is) how a little seed can grow to something such as food for us humans. Truly a work of art.
I guess I should go shovel out to the stoop (Thank God that is the only thing we have to shovel by hand) before the freezing rain hits it.... Have to love Maine weather /// or do we ?

If you were just starting out, growing in soil, what ... (1) Nutrient Line would you use (2) Seed Company (If you had none) and (3) what other info would you give someone that is just beginning like me

I know that there are probably better (and more expensive) nute lines on the market, but I have done quite well for a couple years with the FoxFarm line. I use all six -- 3 liquid and 3 solubles. I use their feeding schedule. I also use a mix of FF Ocean Forest soil and ProMix. I give 'em a shot of Great White every few weeks, per directions on label. I use a teaspoon of epsom with the feeding, and occasionally with the plain water as well. Usually once during veg and once during flower I will use Sledgehammer. Also at the end, as I commence a week of flush.
One thing I learned after about a year that I thought was important, at least for me, was to start measuring the volume of water -- feeding or plain -- that I give each plant. I used to just pour, y'know..till it looked wet enuf I guess lol. Well I started measuring what I give them. I guess the previous year provided some experience but I got lucky and seemed to have nailed the volumes that work. My plants used to start yellowing by week 3 or 4 of flower, now they are pretty green till the day I chop Your amounts could be different though due to environment etc. I'll be happy to share particulars if you want to know those.
I may try hydro someday, but I am a soil grower. I know hydro is faster, but a plus of soil is that with some strains the terpenes and other compounds that are responsible for aroma and taste can be more prevelent.
