Hello all,

I am in the process of planning my next grow and I have decided on a 2.4k setup consisting of 4-lumatek 600w/240v ballast, 4-magnum xxxl hood and not sure yet on bulb. Was planning on a hortilux eye but have read some reports with issues when being used with a lumatek ballast.

Anyways, I came across this website, http://www.gchydro.com, and they seem to have some amazing deals on a exact setup I am looking for. I just wanted to know if anyone has dealt with this company. Price seems to be about $100 cheaper per light setup than anywhere else I have looked. Just wanted some feedback before I place my order... don't want to get ripped off or sent old designed lumatek ballast.

Here is the link to the package deal...

any opinions or advice is much appreciated,

thanks ;D

Yo bro I've ordered tons of stuff from GCHydro.... they're main site is igrowhydro.com, but they're both the same people. Ive had zero problems with ordering and the customer service is excellent i had to return an item I ordered by mistake and they were totally cool about it. With the Lumatek and hortilux Ive never had a problem with my MH hortilux and lumatek. I will mention this though, If your running lumatek ballasts on 240 dont wire it with the neutral (white) wire which can cause some malfunctions. Hope this helps

This might be a personal question so if you don't reply I totally understand.

Anyways, I really like a lot of their pricing and I even read on another forum that on larger orders if you call them they can work out a package deal on pricing.

Now my personal question was how did you order from them. I assume this was online/shipping to your house? I assume you used a credit card? any issues?

thanks for the quick reply:joint:

Well Im not sure what you mean by "issues" but here goes....... Ive had no issues with ordering using a credit card they gladly take my money :) shipping was fast and on time, although with the larger orders that are multiple packages sometimes they dont all arrive at the same time, but all packages do have seperate tracking numbers so youre aware of the seperate boxes. As far as shipping to your house, i guess that depends on your level of paranoia :) I dont have a problem with shipping to my house because grow equipment is not illegal to own or buy, so im cool with it......other people may not agree so thats up to you.

Looks like nice price to me I have also been looking for a 600w setup.

Hey what is the best bulb out of the ones listed to get for flowering?
*Lucalux PSL Enhanced Spectrum 600 W *Grolux HPS Enhanced Spectrum 600 HPS Add $15.00
*Hortilux 600 W HPS Add $40.00

And would there be any benefit to get a 240v instead of the 120v?

Having not used any of the 600 watt bulbs I cant give a good recommendation on those, but as far as 120V vs 240V is generally you can only run one 600 or 1000 watt light per 15 or 20 amp circuit before you trip the breaker. Now for example on a 240 50 amp circuit you can run about 9 1000 watt lights without tripping your breaker. If you want more details on the ins and outs of electrical let me know.

I know a watts a watt so power consumptions should be about the same. I was just thinking possibly less heat. Converting 120v to 600w would be maybe harder (more heat) than converting 240v.

Thats a good point. I agree with your logic on the possibility of extra heat converting from 120 vs 240, you could be on to something there. I use 240 1000w lumatek's and they are always cool to the touch. They dont even feel slightly warm. :joint:
