Gay marriage why are the government trying to get it leagal as marriage is a religeous ceremony so they want to change religeon?
Don't get me wrong why cant they just be happy with civil ceremoys as i have not heard of a religeon that says homosexuality/lesbianism is right.
I have nothing agenst peoples sexual preference as i have explored mine in the past.

My point is what right do the government to change religion?

There are two aspects to marriage: the religious and the civil. The latter does belong in the purview of government, since taxation and estate law come into play. cn

How does it have anything to do with religion?

Whether you are atheist, christian, jewish, muslim, or whatever doesn't matter. What matters is the governments recognition of that union for legal reasons. Anyone that opposes gay marriage is a bigot.

gay marriage has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with morals
Exactly. Everytime someone says they are against gay marriage, ppl are quick to point the finger at them and blame their religious beliefs. You dont have to be religious to know that homosexuality is wrong.

I don't know anybody who believes that homosexuality is wrong, and believes so for a non-doctrinaire (not religious) reason. cn

It's the main reason behind the politics. If the bible never said anything about it in the first place then this wouldn't even be an issue here.

The irony is that (iirc) the actual relevant Bible verses are open to interpretation. However the evangelical/dominionist schools of USA Protestant doctrine have run with this and made it out to be the worst imaginable sin aside from outright satanism. It's a bit odd. cn

That is odd, I've never read the bible at all so I always go off of what people and the media says, contradicting at the least.

I have to disagree. Im pretty sure some smart ppl would have made the connection that penis goes in the vagina and anything else is off.
