Not so much ambient heat
its hard to describe but it "feels" like sunlight
Its not so much that they run hotter its that they cant be air cooled as easily
Because the bulb has to maintain a higher temp then single ended
But i dont notice the bulb itself being much worse then a 1000w in an adjust a wing fixture

I agree, this is only my second run with them but have to say I’m impressed they are not hotter. I run my ballasts remote, thinking I should have put them in the room for winter lol.
