Im curious of what kind of distance will have to be maintained, and how much usable height you would actually wind up with.
Glad you brought that up its kind of been on my mind a minute also.

I see youtube videos showing them 20 feet above the plant and all I can think about is how much light strength they are losing by the time it gets to the canopy. Light drastically degrades by the foot. Then you see people burning and bleaching plants alive because its way too close.

They stack 20 of them in a room 20 feet above the plants it is sheer lunacy. Everyone sees average results for high cost. Starting to piss me off at this point lol.

I see recommendations of using it to cover 9x9 feet of floor space, I use one per 3x3 table in 4x4 spaces. I think they are scared of telling people to bring them close because if they are too close it causes major fox tailing.

You have to know your grow situation and use discretion on where to put the lights, everyone wants shit to be cookie cutter and the companies are scared of liabilities. Mine are 7 foot above the table, the plant grows 4 foot. I don't recommend being less than 3 feet away, its when you run into issues.

Next set up is up and running. Gave this tent to the 4 afghan kush ryders. Got it on 750w as I'm just working out the environment. My extraction is easily cooling this tent.

With regards to the distance, I'm sure it's just the 1000w lamps that people are bleaching their plants with. It's 5ft above the seedlings on 750w.

The 750w gavita run at 825w is 5% more efficient than the 1000w gavita run at 825w. I don't have to keep it as far away. Only got 1 lamp in each tent, so no crossover from other lamps.

Some funky colours when the gavita is switched on... Took a few snaps...

Tmrw I will get the 3rd tent up and running.

I'm thinking of getting a decent metal oscillating fan for each tent. I'd lose a corner in yield, but would have supreme airflow. I think it's probably worth it. When you see colas swinging around in a high breeze, you can relax about bud rot

You don't need direct air flow, look at Schaeffer fans that a lot of the new grows are using. You just need to find something that will make a vortex effect in the tent like they do in rooms. Not recommending a Schaeffer fan as they are too large but could use them for an idea of what to buy. I am planning on upgrading to them at some point.

I have two of the floor fans. Big fuckers! lol They shift some air. If I can use them that would be easier as they don't oscillate, so would take up less space. I normally use them outside the tents pushing hot air towards the windows.

I ordered some 4'' ducting today for passive intake. These will be screwed to the window ledge near an open window. I don't care about living space this time. There isn't any! Not even enough room to set up the television  That's it, I'll adjust. This time for the entire grow I'm going to be able to walk an entire circle around all of the four 4ftx4ft grow tents. So many grows in the past I've wanted to adjust things in the tent and haven't been able to reach. This time I can access the side doors, every vent, every cable port, the entire tent.

I'll be using scrog nets later on for bud support, or to stop plants growing too high. One of the 2.

I know the feeling before I moved I had 3 tents in my bedroom and a 8x11 4k watt hps room. It was definitely cramped.

For the past few hours I have been playing around with intake fans and passive intakes. It's typical... Get three gavitas and we have a fucking heat wave in the UK.

So basically I'm just going to go with a passive intake anyway. I set up 2 tents side by side, both with 750w on. 1 drawing air from the room and 1 drawing cool air from outside. The cool air tent was excellent. I can see that cooling the ambient temps in my flat too, as opposed to sucking in recycled air from the grow room, which I normally would do.

I can tell that there is no way I can plug all 3 gavitas in currently, plus it would be a waste. Happy with the way things are going, but bring on winter. I can't wait. Got 4 plants under hps and 12 plants under led. All plants seem happy anyway.

Day 10 today for all the auto's. Had 2 mutants, so culled them. Got nothing in the little veg tent now.

Sweet fast bud#2. Just been moved here. 1 has just been transplanted into the hempy bucket instead of a mutant. Want an even canopy ideally.

Not a bad start. Just fed the plants ec1 / 500ppm of Canna coco a & b and cx regen-a-root@ ph 5.8. Hoping for a real good reaction now. Now is the time they need to grow like fuck :eyesmoke:

Day 5 from seed for the auto's. I lost an afghan kush ryder, so stole one from my little tent and transplanted it to the 12 litre hempy that the dead one was in.

Now in my little veg tent I have 2 fast bud#2, so it's going to be very easy to look after them.

I set up one of my new bud box white tents. It just didn't seem right trying to cover it with the 4 sanlight panels, so came up with an idea. I moved the top bar from my other new tent so I could put the sanlights in a ring around the edges. I moved two 100w 2700k cobs to the middle. Looks pretty good. Not got the cobs on currently, so just running at 480w. Lights are staying right at the top, hopefully fo rthe whole grow. They are 5ft away, so plenty of room for the plants to grow in to.

Sweet seeds Cream Mandarin auto's on day 5. They may grow quite big, so giving them the led tent as they can grow closer to the light.

I had to transplant her as her tap root needs to find the bottom of the hempy bucket asap.
Damn bro 3 tents?!?

The tents now have a 4 hour dark period, staggered around to allow the ambient heat to be a bit better.

Strange thing is, I have 2 4ftx4ft tents with identical extraction, both have gavitas too on 600w, but one is running hotter than the other tent. It's just weird. Tents are next to each other, also next to the window.

World of Seeds Afghan Kush ryder day 13 from seed. Still sorting the temps in this tent.

Sweet Seeds Trainwreck auto day 13. Set up an intake fan in here last night. Temps better in here now. Pulling air from a cool window ledge. Outside temps are quite warm in the Uk still, so this will get much easier in the coming weeks and months as it cools.

DSCN5578 (1).JPG

Cream Mandarin Autos from Sweet seeds. These are day 13 too. Good start, nice temps and environment in here. Humidity was high as fuck as intake is near bathroom window and I'd literally just had a shower minutes b4 I took pics.

DSCN5581.JPG

Led plants looks lush. Actually running full power in here now. I even have the 2700k cobs on 100w each to try and make the plants stretch. The leds are 5ft away from plant tops. 680w of led in a 4x4. Other tents are on 600w. In fact the led tent is running cooler than the other 2, even though it's 80w more.

Next tent is Sweet seeds fast bud#2, 600w gavita. Also on day 13. These are a bit smaller, but have looked to be on track since yesterday evening. A real nice strain to grow. I'm confident these will pick up.

Planted 4 seeds yesterday. 4 Sweet seeds cream mandarin fast version. I can clone these, so this will be ideal. Got this little veg tent free for a bit now, so just going to get something else going on in here.

DSCN5586.JPG

The next 2 weeks are so important. I'm going to up the nutes feeds from 500ppm to 600ppm, but start adding a bit of silica.

Got all 4 cream mandarin fast version seeds. Fixed up my drobe today. Few new screws in the doors. Chucked an extra 100w 3500k cree cob in there too, as it was running too cold.

Finally we have cooler weather in the UK. I'm pleased for my plants for this lol

Ditching the intake fan as it's just not making any difference. I can easily cool the tents now it's cooler outside.

All gavitas now right at the top of each tent, set on 750w.

Sweet Seeds Fast bud#2. These were the last plants to be given a tent with a bigger light and it's showing. They are behind, but not to worry.

All plants were fed today 600ppm of Canna coco a&b some regen-a-root. The one in the top right just looks like she's about to burn up lol She looks like a weak plant to be fair, but still going to run her.

Do you rinse that coco before using it? I've had pretty bad luck with pretty much every coco brand so far. High EC and salt. I'm looking for high quality coco I can use right away without rinsing. What are your thoughts on Coco Tek?

I didn't know they even made DE bulbs that were under 1000watts. That's interesting.
Yeah we hear so many instances where people turn their 1000w de lamps down to 825w or 750w coz of temps or bleaching. This lamp is 5% more efficient on 825w than a 1000w gavita de dimmed to 825w.

No I don't do anything else other than feed. No rinsing at all. I haven't never used another brand so I can't compare it to anything.

Sweet seeds cream Mandarin under 780w actual draw of led. The leds electric use is pretty much identical to the hps ballast draw.

DSCN5604.JPG

It was 680w, but I have added a 3500k cree cob between the two 2700k cobs. So basically got 300w of power dead centre with a ring of Sanlights panels.

DSCN5615.JPG

That is some spectrum in there. The led plants are doing really well actually. No surprise to me though. This is why I want to veg with led in the future, then flower with 750de. On that notes I'm amazed how easy it is to lower the humidity with the hps tents. This is great news for flowering. I am really looking forward to the led buds grown in here 1st though. Cream Mandarin is a nice strain. Only grown 1 plant of it before and was almost in tears when the jar ran out.

Sweet fast bud#2. Doing a bit better, but still a bit shit really. Their 10th day in here. I've given all my plants a 300ppm feed today, 4 litres each, just to flush them. I'm going to lower the ppm of the feeds a bit after some high run off. Maybe they are doing shit coz their frying. The next few days I will hit them with 300ppm.

FB#2 day 20

Drobe day 20 for the Afgan kush ryder. She's been cold. Have 200w in here, just need her to grow. This plant is the only auto on 24-0.

DSCN5606.JPG
DSCN5607.JPG

This plant has had fuck loads of run off with a 300ppm feed. If too many nutes was slowing her, that should be over. Temps are 22-24oc after putting 2nd cob in.

After setting up I found a decent 5'' extractor fan, plus have 500w of led in storage. Decided for the sake of the cost just to set up a 3ft x3ft tent in the only spare space in the property

I have 3 cream mandarins and I'm looking for the best one. Also just planted 6 DNA Genetics Lemon Skunk. I'm searching for an indica leaning stinking lemon skunk mother. I can house 2 mother plants. 1 of each.

New 3ft tent. I'm considering using 3 of them, but when the 4x4 hps tent in this bedroom goes into a dark period, I will set the other 2 lights to come on. So 300w for 16 hours, 500w for 4 hours, then 4 hour dark period when the hps in other tent comes on. That way they will keep each other warm in dark periods.

Little veg tent with ls and cm seedlings and seeds. GN Telos 6. Nice little lamp for in here. It's too cold for the 54w cob. I'll probably just unplug that and throw it in the big led tent.
