so there was two things mentioned on garden radio today
one was Corn gluten, a product by bonide
this can be used monthly to the soil and won't let weeds germinate. It doesn't effect anything already sprouted, and also prevents things like beans and carrots from sprouting
product is called Maize

also they were talking about a hybrid form of BT, that also treats fungus gnats. This stuff seems pretty interesting. I wanted to post these up for discussion to see what people think about them, and any alternatives that are better and why, also up for discussion how to use these products effectively.

At nearly two thousand posts on here, you might be aware that there a roughly two very different types of cannabis growers here,
one is the ORGANIC camp and the other, is at best (unknown) MONSANTO supporters, when I smoke my herb I'm pleased to have
grown it the organic way, taste and chem free too, and it didn't make some carpet bagger a shit load of cash at my, or other growers expense

Wow your a wicked prick huh. Organic you may be but doesn't mean we all are. Nice post man and thanks for keeping us up to date on the latest shit. Vostok go turn your compost barrel and have a drink, itll do ya good. Stop shitting on people who try to help . If its not helpful to you then move the fuck on to the next thread tough guy as this one doesn't apply to you.

can you be a little less vague and a little more helpful?

i guess he's refering to the hybrid BT that was mentioned.
So i guess that is a genetically modified form of BT?

i get your point, genetically modified things are bad and can cause imbalance
not up for a debate here, but GMO's could be helpful in the future, especially with the bad shit we've already done to our planet. This is just an opinion and is not what the topic's about.

if you have a problem with genetically modified things, we know there are alternatives
this topic is about the effects of the two said things on my first post

thanks for mentioning that!

i'm not trying to help anyone with these products, i just would like to discuss them

BT aka Milky Spore disease is used in lawn management to control jap beetle grubs. it also kills all larvae in the kill zone like june bugs and ladybird beetles. it takes a while to have any effect. in a lawn, like 5 years. it doesn't really have any place in a home grow for cannabis. and i'm not sure it would be a very efficient product for an outdoor grow either. cannabis is plagued mainly by thrips, mites and other piercing sucking pests that are better treated with oil sprays directly on the leaves as nymphs because BT only works in soil. corn gluten meal is a great pre emergent herbicide. its not expensive and i have used it many time in garden beds instead of the expensive stuff from garden centers. i don't know its half life but i don't think it works more than the first year.
