I remember sometime ago there was a talk on here about whether your garbage was still considered your property or not when it is at your property line.

This just came across here in Canada saying that once it's at the line, it's fair game for any government official, right down to tax investigators.

The lawyer is now trying to make a case that this means they can retrieve deleted text messages and possibly deleted emails as well.

but they came onto his property to get it? It even said they "reached over his property line". WTF?

Does this mean if someone pulls their car up beside my property line that it becomes my car? Alright, this could be fun....... embrace the legal right to steal.

If you have a tree, say a tree bearing fruit for example, and the branches hang over into your neighbor's property, those branches and any fruit they contain belong to your neighbor. Your neighbor can legally pick the fruit and/or trim the branches. Is there a similarity here?
