This is my first grow journal and second indoor grow. I will try to explain things as plainly as possible and include pictures when I can.

This grow will be G13 White Widow. The seeds were purchased from Attitude from my first grow, but this grow will be from clones. No need for sexing, fortunately we've already done that. We're working strictly with female clones. :-P

I'm just now getting around to posting this journal on a Saturday, however the clones were taken on Tuesday, September 8th.

I'm going to start from the clones. With my first grow I went down several different paths looking for what worked for me and my environment. If you're new to growing I believe you have to experiment. While this is my 2nd grow I kind of consider it my 5th due to all the testing and things that were tried in my 1st grow.

Anyway, on with what we're doing here. I built a cloning system a while back. It's built around the DWC Rubbermaid systems. You will see photos of my system, but this isn't really a step-by-step on how to build it. There are plenty of those in the DIY section of this site. My cloning system has 15 ports (that's what I'll call them for lack of a better term), however we will only be using 12 of them.

I took 12 clones from one plant. I use Dip 'N Grow solution for cloning only because it's been good for me so far. I typically have 100% success rate on my clones. If you're looking for it at your local hydro shop there is a photo of the box included. I remove most of the fan leaves from the stem. I try to pull nice sturdy clones, something with a nice thick stem. I've also found with my system it's important for the clone stems to reach the water or at least be close enough for a splash from the bubbles. If the stem is too short it just won't root.

When I first built my cloning system I wasn't sure how I was going to secure the clones. I grow in soil so putting the clones in a net pot or something like that wasn't going to work. I went to my local Wal-Mart and in the craft section found some green foam stuff. It comes in a big block. I believe it's used for flower decorations. I cut the larger block into small squares and make a small hole for the stem. The blocks are larger than the port holes in my system to they act as a buffer and hold the clones above the lid. Once the clones root I will pull them back through the port holes in the lid. Then I just snap off the foam from around them. It breaks off from around the stem very well.

Ok, so 12 clones cut and placed in the cloning system. My system holds about 2 gallons of water. I mix my water with Hygrozyme and Fox Farms Big Bloom. I mix both of these at 1/4 strength per 1 gallon of water. If you grow in soil or organic hydro and you do not use Hygrozyme I highly recommend it. It saved my ass a couple of times on my first grow.

I then place my cloning system under a flourecent light. It holds 2 T5 bulbs. The light is set to an 18/6 light cycle.

That's pretty much it for now. Now we wait for roots. I'll post again in a few days when we're ready to replant in soil.

Feel free to comment or ask questions. I don't know much but I will help if I can. Believe me I've had to lean on more experienced growers before and probably will this time around too.

good choice for a strain, im growing some g13 WW aswell. Ive got both indoor and outdoor though, the seed is outside and the buds on it are looking very nice, got a bunch of clones inside my closet growing right now, and i know exactly what u mean about ur 5th grow attempt. It took me so long to work out all the kinks in my system plus with the summer heat i couldnt run a HID for my flower room without cooking the plants which happened pretty badly. And very nice job with your clones, looking very healthy.

Bigol'Bong I would be really interested to see what the strain does in an indoor environment opposed to outdoor. My area of the country is renowned for great outdoor grows, unfortunately I don't have the setup to do an outdoor grow. Nor am I looking to deal with local LE over it.

So that I don't have a whole lot to type in the near future I'm going to jump in a get a head start.

It's now Sept 21st, 9 days since the clones went into the cloning system. We now have roots on almost all of the plants. Some are much more prominent than others. I will give them a couple more days and then into the soil they will go. I'm using FoxFarms soil with a perlite mixture in 5 gallon buckets. I will also be using FoxFarm nutes, Big Bloom, Grow Big and Hygrozyme during the veg phase. I will add in a couple of thers and macronutes during the flowering phase. No need to get into that now.

I'm also going to test a Bubble/DWC during this grow. Should be a nice side by side comparison with soil. I purchased a black bucket and lid from my local hydro shop. I already have net pots, air pump, hydroton, and air stones. I picked up a drill bit that cuts 5" holes from Home Depot. It cuts a perfect circle in the lid of the bucket. The hole allows the net pot to pop in perfectly.

I tried a DWC unit in the past, but I was using the orange buckets from Home Depot. I ran into all kinds of issues but I think most of them were related to light penatrating the bucket. I guess we'll see what happens this time around.

Should be ready to move from cloning to buckets in just a couple more days. Want to give those roots a little more time to develop. More in the journal then.
