Hi fella your grow is looking awesome, I am also trying the PE from G13 and am about the same time scale as you although havent long joined this site so didnt start a grow journal :(. I am doing a soil grow but what i wanted to ask is what is weaving and what does it do? might sound a bit dippy but hey :). What sort of height are they at the moment?

Cheers

It allows you to spread the growth around, so that the light is equally shared between the bud sites. Instead of one big main cola, I'll hopefully have 20-30 of them. For me the choice to scrog screen was all about yield. And the plant is about a foot away from the screen, and she's got a few tops that are about 2" above the screen, so all in all about 16" probably. That was another reason I decided to scrog, because I'm limited in the space I have to grow vertically. Find "ScottyBalls" thread on here, he grew PE and got 10 ozs dry from one plant that was about the same size that mine is now, very inspiring haha.

ah sweet yeah it is very, i was told to use fishing wire with plastic hooks to hook underneath branches etc to give the plant more support when flowering?? will let you know how i get on with that as i have been reading your grow journal. Want to look at the hydroponics set up next time but see how the funds work out....should be able to save a load once i get my tasty crop :)

Hydro isn't very expensive, the unit I purchased cost $50 and it came with hydroton as well as the Flora Nova series nutes. Other than a PPM meter/PH meter I haven't had to purchase anything else as far as hydroponics goes. Either way good luck w/ your grow. And I would assume the fishing hooks/string thing would be to give the branches more support for when the buds start to develop....Thats another benefit to using the SCROG screen.

Day 4 of 12/12
Hooked up the carbon filter today. I couldn't figure out a way to make it work inside the tent, so I had to put it outside and blow threw it. I contacted Phresh via email and they assured me that I could suck OR blow threw the filter. The life may be diminished a bit as I've lost the use of the pre-filter essentially, but I'm fine with that as I didn't pay much for it, and it only has to last til the end of this grow.
She's looking very good as far as I can tell, the rate of growth is astonishing at this point. The root mass must be getting big as well, as its taking less and less to refill the res to the fill line. I guess I need to start trimming off the growth below the screen? There is a ton of it, and a bunch of tops that are pretty substantial but just can't fit/make it to the top of the screen.

Went by tonight and tucked a TON of large fan leaves that were above the screen below it so the tops that have made it can get as much light as possible. At this point there has to be at least 100 large fan leaves under the screen....I was told to remove them as they aren't getting much light, but they did not just pull off as instructed. Should I trim them w/ scissors? Also, if I do, should I trim them back to the original branch? And do I trim all the tops back to the their original branch if they can't make ti to the screen? Any help would be greatly appreciated, need to get her cleared out for budding.

That's awesome, you got a journal going for her? How's the bud formation coming along at 3 weeks? I'm almost done with my first week and it seems to be moving pretty fast. And yeah Justified is great, just seems to get better each episode, thanks for putting two and two together lol.

No journal I'll snap some photos in the morning when they wake up. Started kinda slow but she's filling out nicely. I didn't get much branching so I'm keeping her for my SOG/aero table.

Awesome, always fun to see bud pics, especially if the strain is the same as mine. And the fact that you didn't get much branching is crazy...She's growing like a fucking bush for me. And to think I was worried about having to top her...haha, no need.

Went by tonight to change out the res. I decided to start using the FloraNova Bloom ONLY from here on out, as I'm almost out of Part A to the FloraDuo Part A+B. I must say, I did NOT expect the Nova Bloom to resemble chocolate pudding/milk, and it made my water look like sweet tea lol. Though it did have some very strong buffers for the PH, which was awesome because I didn't have to use any PH down.
I also started to trim off the growth below the screen...I only removed about 1/6th of the growth below the screen, which was essentially all the growth originating from two main branches/tops. I started by simply snipping the fan leaves back to the stem they originate from, then I had to start cutting out colas/tops that didn't make it to the top. After about 5 minutes I had filled up a WalMart sized bag. Even though I'm spreading the trimming out over a week or two, should I be worried about shocking the plant? Also, it seems like there will be a LOT of exposed plant after trimming all of the growth below the screen off...do I run a risk of mold or something similar by doing so? Any tips/suggestions on this matter would be greatly appreciated, as I'm almost done with this grow and I don't want to stunt her if possible.
Other than that, everything seems to be going very smoothly. Should have my new exhaust fan by Wednesday, then I can put the one I have as exhaust now as the intake. Pics tomorrow.

This may be a dumb question, but how do you change the res now that the plants in the screen? I have two waterfarms waiting for me to start my first attempt at hydro, but I'm baffled as to how exactly the res changing process works.

nevermind, I figured it out :)

Another question of you will...when adding water back to the res, do you just pour it over the hydroton?

Yeah that's how I refill it. I should have made the screen about 2" higher as the bucket I use for res changes doesn't fit when I tilt it up unless I push the screen up a little. So if you plan to scrog(which you should :P), then make sure its high enough to easily pour water in it, otherwise you'll fight with some of the tops like I have to.

Removed another walmart sized bag of fan leaves/growth. One more sitting should have below the screen cleared out. On a side note, she's starting to put out pistils like crazy. Very exciting times. :D
If the bag of trimmings I removed is any indication of the final products smell, then I can't wait, as it smelled very delicious.

Day 11 (Flower)
PPM - 1200
PH - 5.6
Went by tonight and topped off the res....Ever since I started using the FloraNova she's loved it...drinking almost a half gallon a day. Tried to get some shots of the pistils for you Pukka, but my camera didn't want to focus very well for me tonight, so maybe you can see some, if not I'll get some better ones next time. I can't get over how thick the base is getting, as well as all the branching stemming from it. Got branching? :D

I'm starting to notice where I could have spread the growth out more, as she's growing in a dome shaped manner at this point, but it's too late to pull any tops down and spread them out. Hopefully this doesn't hurt my yield too much. Either way, I'm pleased with her so far, and excited for the next grow as this has been a major learning process as I assumed it would be.
