So this is an old thread I made, but it was lost durring the recent hacking. I'm not sure If it's worth reposting but the pics I have to go with this are the best I have, so without much further ado....

...my old report.

Blueberry Gum (G13Labs) feminised

Setup
Lighting - 250w daylight CFL (veg), 400w HPS with cooltube (flower)
Space - 1mX1mX2m BudBox
Ventillation - 5"TT Hydroponic with temp and speed control (Inline, 280m3 per hr, PA = 138)
Air Movement - Passive intake, 5" oscallating fan for circulation (ceiling mounted)
Grow medium - AllMix Soil, veg-4.5litre aeropots, flower-20litre aeropots
Nutrients - BioGrow (veg), BioGrow+BioBloom (flower)
Grow Style - 2 plants, Au Natural, vegged for 1month, flowered until mature.

Seeding stage
Both seeds were germinated using the paper towel method then placed in ph'd rockwool cubes using tweasers. 100% germination within 24hrs. The seeds grew vigorously and appeared a healthy dark green.

Vegetative stage
I had a few deficency problems durring veg but generally the plants grew fast and healthy with an initially simillar structure. They took time adjusting when put under the HPS and were also quick to tell me they needed repotting and soil PH sorted. Once fixed the plants recovered remarkably quickly, growing with thick stems and dark glossy leaves. Easy to grow strain I think.

Flowering Stage
I flipped 12/12 a bit early due to time constraints. The plants were just under 1ft tall. Once under 12/12 one pheno really took off vertically, while the other bushed out more robustly. They remained very healthy for the first 3-4weeks as they stretched and formed the first tops. Once the flowers started appearing so did the amazing smelling resin, a distinct sharp/sweet synthetic berry smell. Shortly after this, perhaps due to very low night temps, both phenos began to show a variety of purples. Fan leaves were turning plum, indigo and dark purple, first starting on the lower regions of the plant but quickly spreading right up to the main colas. Calyxes purpled alot on one of the pheno's main colas, and to a lesser extent on the other. All buds showed some purpling that would remain after manicure etc. Both plants gained frostyness steadily, with all sugar leaves totally encrusted, along with some of inner portions of fan leaves. The underside of sugar leaves became extremely frosty aswell. Despite a claimed 50day flower I found myself with unmature plants by then. Yeild at this point looked quite underwhelming but new white hairs were still forming. I staggered my harvest between days 60 and 67, taking mature bits as they formed. I harvested when most hairs (80-90%) were orange and beginning to receed, i found trichs to be mainly cloudy, few clear and a few amber. Judging from sneaky buds taken around day 50, I would strongly advise against early harvest. What i took from the sidebranches (which were already lollypopped) turned out to be airy and leafy bud. The buds seem to fill out at the last minute, hence why i staggered the harvest. Oh and smell factor - Even with a good carbon scrubber these two girls were stinking out my whole room and sometimes the hallway. They are at the smellier end of the scale, perhaps a 7or8/10.

Phenotypes
BBG1 - This plant was strongly indica dom, producing a very squat and small plant. It finnished at 26+1/2 inches or 67cm. The sidebranching was far superior to the other pheno and produced chunkier buds. The main cola, despite being really something to look at, was very small by comparison to the second plant. The leaves looked the same but the difference in height and cola structure would lead you to believe they were different strains. The smell on this pheno was more inviting, stronger and with less of an earthy undertone. Smelt like melon and blueberry gum. Resin production was marginally higher on this plant, producing very sugary round buds. This pheno had more purple bud than the other and generally purpled faster and more extensively.
BBG2 - This pheno stretched like crazy for 3 weeks, it almost doubled the height of the other plant which was pretty undesireable. All bar 2 side branches produced small buds verging on popcorn. The main cola was pretty decent though, reaching the girth of a can of beans by the end. Due to the heavy stretch, internode spacing was poor and generally i did not like the structure of this pheno. I saw foxtailing towards the end of flower, and if it were not for this main cola the harvest would have been extremely below average. She had more of an earthy undertone to her scent but still smelt very nicely of berry indeed. Both phenos definatley had a blueberry type smell to them.

Yeild

Both phenos were under average yeilders durring my run, the grow style I adopted along with a shortish veg might have been to blame though. I ended up with roughly an ounce a plant, with about half of that weight being smallish buds. Considering i lollypopped them I wasnt expecting such unsubstantial side branch buds. I let them run far past the breeder's recommended flowering length, untill 60-67 days, by which point almost all of the bud was covered in receeded orange hairs. I could have let them go another week if I had the time.

Harvesting
They were easy to fell, nice soft but stong stems. Alot of leaf in the bud, cant stress that enough. Quite easy to trim for the most part but there is alot of leaf to remove. The Trim from this was extremly potent smoke, it kept me going for a full 2 weeks with friends while the rest dried. All sugar leaves were totally encrusted with tasty resin. It took about 5days to be ready for jars, by which point the bud had shrunk about 50% in size. After a weeks cure a more noticably pleasant smell came through. After two weeks the buds were looking/smelling great. The purple tint was noticable on most of the nugs, giving them a beautiful appearance - lots and lots of orange/brown hairs and blends of darkish green to purple. All totally covered in sticky resin from top to bottom, including even the smallest of popcorn nugs. All in all some really nice bud.

Smoke report

Anything that I harvested early was pretty shit and I would advise to resist any side-branch thievery as they really do rippen up alot in the last few weeks. After a two week cure though I had some bud that I was proud of. The bud may not have been as dense as I had hoped for but it was still compact and solid enough for me. The smoke was strong in my books, one joint often leaving me happily stoned for hours. Often after a few joints I would need to sleep, others I smoke with reported the same aswell. All in all a nice high though with a pleasant warm body-buzz. I think there was a nice euphoria to the high that would leave you content doing very little for a long period, like zoning into a few episodes of the sopranos or something. The taste was unique, and was stronger in the smaller more indica pheno. Both had a nice sharp berry like taste, the taller pheno with a spicier and earthier smell included, and the smaller pheno with a more delicious skunky/berry smell. You could have smoked either plant and recognised it as the same strain though.

Final rating
ease of grow - 9/10
yeild - 5/10
bag appeal - 8/10
smell - 8/10
taste - 7/10
high - 8/10
days past breeder's rec - 17days

Here are some pics from various points between day 45 and 60ish

congrats on your successful grow. nothing like harvesting your own buds. I dont know if youre new to growing or not but I will give you the best advice i learned through trial and error. Be patient with your wanting to harvest. Use the breeders suggested time as a guideline and not the actual time. Invest in a handheld 60x100 microscope to read your trichcomes. I have been growing since 2008 on and off. I have 10 grows under my belt and I am just getting to the point where i wouldnt consider myself a newbie. Once you learn patience, this hobby and skill will trully take off. I have seen things that i never thought possible in the grow world. Like 2 lbs off one plant indoors, and getting 1/4lbs off one plant with 250watt lights. The latter I did myself!!

Once again nice grow! Keep up the good work.

Thanks amigo! Yeah I'm pretty new to growing, It probs shows hehe. I've studied the subject with dedication though, I need large amounts of brain food to be a happy person if you know what I mean. Nothing replaces experience though, totally apprecciate that. I use my 100x magnifier but havent started to rely on it for harvest time yet, I also pretty much ignore the breeder's rec flower time as I know that my growing in soil (and other stressing factors) will no doubt add a week or two on top of that anyways. Patience is defo a virtue when it comes to harvesting, your bang on there.

Great thread Mystic. First +rep I have given at RIU. Any journal lurker should appreciate complete reports like this. Thanks

I have 1 G13 BGum 35 days into flower after a 34 day veg. No purp, but I live in a hot place. Do you mind if I post a pic or 2 here just to get your ideas on pheno variation or similarities? I dont want to Gum up your thread, bada bump.

Thanks for your kind comments, glad you like the report. I keep detailed notes and write these reports after. like a sort of overview. I think it helps your observational skills to explain your results to others :) And it means people can help show me the error of my ways aswell.

Please do post your own pics! I'd love to see how other people's BBGs have turned out, even if they do blow mine out the proverbial water :)

Awesome report! I just happened to have ordered 5 of these, yesterday, for 420! Do you think low temps helped them to purple up more? I'm looking forward to growing this strain. :)

My G13 Blueberry Gum. Vegged for 34 days...Currently on day 45 of flower. Leaves are starting to die and the buds are filling in. I thought this was going to be a small yielder. First 2 pics are day 37 and the last 2 are day 44.

hey mysticmorris how long did you flower your BBG
I flowered the two girls for 67 days of 12/12, I think they had another week left in them tbh. I think if I had harvested when the breeder suggested I would have lost a significant amount of the already lowish yeild.

I'm fairly sure it was largely the low temps, as it was a really cold winter here and the night temps were damn low even indoors. But you might get lucky n the genetics just do it on their own.

Man you woulnt be dissappointed with the BBG. It was such good smoke, I really enjoyed it and gave me confidence to buy some Pineapple Express seeds from G13. I think with Uncle Ben's topping technique you could really beef up the yeild on the strain.

Thanks for the pics, from what i can see you have the same weak sidebranching I had, really hurts the yeild I think. Mine put on alot of weight in the last two weeks, infact there was pretty much new hairs forming right untill day 67 when I chopped so perhaps you can flower it for a long time to increase yeild.

I havent grown any other g13 strains yet, heard the WW is good though. Infact generally people have alot of good things to say about G13 Labs. Only downer for me has been the pick'n'mix Purplehaze g13 seed I failed to germinate.

hehe, I've banned myself from buying any seeds for a while. The freebies really pile up after these promotions.
